Rethinking rural development is a review article by Caroline Ashely and Simon Maxwell. Here we tried to understand about what they are thinking about the future of rural development .

Rural Development : Rural development is the process
of improving the quality of life and economic well being
of people living in rural areas.(wikipedia)
These paper concludes with five general principles and
ten specific recommendation for the future of rural
development.

As it is a review article so we haven’t found any research
problem, research question and research objective. There is
no clear statement or hypothesis.
Main objective was to review research works related to rural
development. We think it is a good review article as most of
the issues regarding rural development were addressed.
The theoretical framework was absent
The authors didn’t use any Validity and reliability test.

Poverty is the main constraint towards rural
development. Poverty reduction rests heavily on
participatory processes.
Agricultural activity is the best way to reduce rural
poverty. Another option is rural non-farm economy but
it is an expensive one.
In addition democracy and decentralization are often
presented as necessary conditions for effective rural
development.
Understanding the diversity of rural areas and the
complexity of livelihood and livelihood strategies are
also necessary.

11. Conclusion
The world is changing very fast .Our rural community is also
changing . So if we want to have a more developed rural
society where all the facilities will be available then we need
to rethink or think out of the box and throughout the article
