MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is a national level standardized test conducted by AIMA to help business schools screen MBA candidates. It is conducted 4 times per year and tests applicants' general aptitudes in areas like language, math, data analysis, reasoning, and the Indian and global environment. The test is accepted by over 600 business schools. To take MAT, applicants must have an undergraduate degree and pay a Rs. 1400 fee. Scores are considered valid for admission for one year. APTITUDE TEST
MAT (Management Aptitude Test) is conducted by All India Management Association
(AIMA). Started in 1988, it is a national level standardized test conducted to facilitate
Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied
programmes.
It is 1 of the 6 national level tests along with CAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA and XAT,
recognized by AICTE & approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development. It is
the largest test of its kind in the nation and its results are accepted by over 600 B-
Schools across India.
Eligibility
A MAT candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
The minimum percentage requirement will vary from institute to institute. A final year
2. student in any undergraduate degree course may also apply for the test.
There is generally no age bar to take the exam, and neither is job experience taken into
consideration.
Test Format
MAT is usually

The result of the
test is valid only
for that particular session for one year.
The test has 2 formats: computer based and paper based, both of which last for 2 hours
and 30 minutes.
It is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. The test is designed to
measure a person’s general aptitudes and has the following sections: Language
Comprehension (30 mins), Mathematical Skills (40 mins), Data Analysis and Sufficiency
(35 mins), Intelligence and Critical Reasoning (30 mins), Indian and Global Environment
(15 mins). All sections carry 40 questions each.
Fees and registration
The registration for the test must be done online and the test fee is Rs. Rs.1400. This
can be paid either by Demand Draft or online through credit /debit card.
Test venues for paper-based test and computer based test are different. The paper-
based test will take place only on one day. The computer based test will be taken in
3. different time slots at specific test venues, subject to number of candidates registering
for computer based test.
