The Missouri Latino Leadership Conference will take place on Saturday, May 10th
, 2014 from 10 AM – 1
PM at Laborers’ Local 110, 4532 Lindbergh Blvd., St Louis, MO 63127 (registration sign-in table will
open at 9:00 AM). Refreshments and snacks will be available.
Keynote speaker for the conference is Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal
(D). She represents district that includes part of St. Louis County in the
Missouri Senate and was elected in 2010. Senator Chappelle-Nadal is of
Puerto Rican and African American descent. She is a dedicated advocate
for everyone in her District and the State of Missouri including the
oppressed, underserved, the poor and the disenfranchised.
The conference will focus on two themes: Latino empowerment
(identifying and supporting the next generation of Latino leaders and
elected officials) and the development of collaborations for the purpose of moving “vision” to “action”
on issues of mutual concern.
Topics include leadership development, comprehensive immigration reform, the Deception of Right-
to-Work laws, increasing Latino workers in the Laborers’ Union, workers’ rights & fair wages, and voter
registration/education/and get out the vote.
The event is co-sponsored by the Laborers’ International Union of North America-Midwest Region &
the Eastern Missouri Laborers’ District Council. Laborers’ Local 110 will host the event.
The event is FREE and open to the public. The registration deadline is Friday, May 2nd
, 2014. Limited
registration will be available the day of the conference.
