Lumenci conducted research across worldwide universities to better understand the quality of patent assets; and identify key trends, technology areas and markets where the next wave of monetization of IP can come from. The Technology Transfer trends of 2019, show an increasingly high number of patent applications on behalf of universities in key technology areas and an overview of high impact areas towards technology commercialization.
China stands at the top of University patent publications, thanks to the Government subsidies and updates in Patent Policy. The impact is so large that Zheijiang University, the top player in China, has 8 times the number of publications as compared to University of California, the top player in the United States.
Lumenci had previously published an article on Hyperloop and University Tech Transfer which was widely received.
“The whitepaper provides good insights on the trends, especially in the biotech industry”, Dr. Amit Saha, Research Engineer, Stanford University

3. Technology
Transfer
Technology Transfer is a process of technology
commercialization in which an entity acquires
the rights for the research knowledge,
technology or product (protected by a patent
license) developed by government
organizations, universities, colleges or research
institutions. The entity can then further
develop those ideas into commercial products
or services.
University Tech Transfer is an opportunity for
universities to increase financial gain and to
create a better impact of their research.
