1. My Film Opening Final Ideas
Genre
The genre I have chosen for my film opening is action thriller because it has
mass appeal to the audience.
I got my inspiration from my love of action films and James Bond style
chase sequences. I learnt a lot from completing the Pre Lim Chase sequence
task and feel confident putting together a chase sequence.
I feel that a chase sequence is good for a film opening because it is attention
grabbing and it will engage the audience. The chase sequence works as an
opening because the audience would want to watch more of the film and it
works to show the genre of the movie is action as a chase sequence is a
convention of action films and the goal is for the audience to understand the
genre and want to watch more.
Characters & Narrative
The film will open with two classic types of Propps character types the
villain and hero. The hero is the spy character – whose name is Jack he is
half Spanish and half from the UK. The spy character is Moroccan – his
name is Ahmed.
The narrative story between these two characters will in the film opening
introduce the characters to the audience and establish that they are hero
and villain. I plan to show Ahmed as the bad guy by him having props such
as guns within his car and how he talks on the phone in the opening scene.
The villain will speak using the Arabic language – which is convention of
Hollywood movies that this would be the bad guys type of language. This
will indicate to the audience the story of the movie and the genre of the
movie, is spy action. I plan to translate the Arabic language into English
subtitles which will interest the audience.
The opening of film will feature only these two characters – arranging
separate things, like the villain is arranging a drop off of a brief case and
the hero is getting information about his target (the villain).
The opening will then lead to a chase sequence between the characters.

2. The title sequence is going to be shot from a drone of the desert which
shows the audience where the movie will take place – in Dubai.
The titles that will appear is the name of the movie, produced by, directed
by, name of the actors.
