A technique or methodology that, through
experience and research, has proven to reliably lead
to a desired result.
An add-on for SAP ERP that contains functional as
well as user experience improvements and are
aimed to increase the productivity of HR
Professionals and the overall HR efficiency whilst
leveraging a streamlined and visually stunning UX
for the user.
HANA, high-performance analytic appliance, is an
application that uses in-memory database
technology that allows the processing of massive
amounts of real-time data in a short time.
A software, based on SAP's NetWeaver that
provides the porting of applications on mobile
devices. It enables applications to be used on
desktop computers, tablets and smartphones.
An integration platform as a service that
provides data integration between a
combination of cloud and on-premise
applications.

Journey from On-premise SAP to the Cloud
• SAP announced in 2012 that mainstream support for On-Premise HCM was
guaranteed through calendar year end 2025 with the goal of customers migrating
from SAP HCM to SuccessFactors cloud technology.

systems to a new technology platform in the cloud whilst also communicating that
it is also a mindset shift from customizing a system from scratch to adapting to a
best practice system all while providing ROI from the switch.

The SAP Way
Customized!
• Many on premise SAP HCM systems are customized, to a large extent, to
satisfy each organizations’ individual unique business needs.
• This includes custom tables, screens, actions/events, workflow, processes,
user exits etc.
• Customers would use the IMG to make basic configuration decisions
(action types, personnel sub groupings, customer specific statuses etc.)
and leverage ABAP code and other utilities to make the system behave in
a manner that was custom and unique to their organization.
• This model allowed for a customer specific experience with the solution
however it required a great deal of maintenance to support it and in many
cases it did not leverage any best practice design methodology.

Payroll Option #1 – Employee Central Payroll
SuccessFactors does not offer a new payroll solution, rather they leverage the world class
multinational SAP Payroll in a hosted “Cloud” environment by SuccessFactors called Employee
Central Payroll. To move to this model customers are required to do 5 things:
1. Choose from two options for deployment Customer Managed or Partner Managed
2. Purchase a SuccessFactors Employee Central license
3. Purchase a SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll license
4. Re-implement and simplify (remove customizations) in their existing SAP Payroll
5. Build integrations (as needed) to partners for Time and or Benefits processing

SuccessFactors does not offer a new payroll solution, rather they leverage the world
class multinational SAP Payroll in a hosted “Cloud” environment by a *selected SAP
Partner called SAP SuccessFactors Managed Payroll.
To move to this model customers are required to do 3 things:
1. Purchase a SuccessFactors Employee Central license
2. Select a Partner from a list of 3 SAP hand-picked certified vendors
3. Lift and Shift the Payroll

The basic information and processes about the employees in an organization. It comprises personnel information, Payroll, Tax, Benefits, Time Management and basic organizational information. The critical aspect of linking your HR system(s) with other systems used to support business processes outside of HR such as payroll, time and attendance, and environmental health and safety. A technique or methodology that, through experience and research, has proven to reliably lead to a desired result. An add-on for SAP ERP that contains functional as well as user experience improvements and are aimed to increase the productivity of HR Professionals and the overall HR efficiency whilst leveraging a streamlined and visually stunning UX for the user. HANA, high-performance analytic appliance, is an application that uses in-memory database technology that allows the processing of massive amounts of real-time data in a short time. A software, based on SAP's NetWeaver that provides the porting of applications on mobile devices. It enables applications to be used on desktop computers, tablets and smartphones. An integration platform as a service that provides data integration between a combination of cloud and on-premise applications.

  • 8. © 2017 EPI-USE Labs | All Rights Reserved The SAP Way Customized! • Many on premise SAP HCM systems are customized, to a large extent, to satisfy each organizations’ individual unique business needs. • This includes custom tables, screens, actions/events, workflow, processes, user exits etc. • Customers would use the IMG to make basic configuration decisions (action types, personnel sub groupings, customer specific statuses etc.) and leverage ABAP code and other utilities to make the system behave in a manner that was custom and unique to their organization. • This model allowed for a customer specific experience with the solution however it required a great deal of maintenance to support it and in many cases it did not leverage any best practice design methodology.

To move to this model customers are required to do 5 things: 1. Choose from two options for deployment Customer Managed or Partner Managed 2. Purchase a SuccessFactors Employee Central license 3. Purchase a SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll license 4. Re-implement and simplify (remove customizations) in their existing SAP Payroll 5. Build integrations (as needed) to partners for Time and or Benefits processing
