Everybody fancies having a good night’s sleep. This is why the popularity of scented candles, aromatherapy oils and quirky music never really fades: to help with it. A safe and sound slumber, however, is only really good if it is on a clean, hygienic surface.

The bedroom is the heart of the house since it is where individuals stay to rest and relax
every night in order to face yet another rigorous day when morning comes. But while
freshly-laundered sheets and beddings are easy enough, some people tend to brush
aside mattress cleaning.
These are a couple of reasons why keeping the mattress clean and hygienic is
important:
3. To prevent allergic rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis has numerous triggers such as pets and pollens. One of the major
causes for it, however, is the microscopic dust mites that breed in household dust.
Dust mites tend to appear everywhere, including carpets, curtains, cushions and even
on plain surfaces. More so, they tend to appear on mattresses and bedding covers,
breeding on the cracks and crevices. Regular cleaning reduces allergic reaction that can
keep one tossing and turning all night.

To not attract more bed bugs
It has been established that dust mites appear in certain areas of the home such as
the bedroom, no matter how clean the household may be. Regular mattress cleaning
controls these dust mites as well as prevents bed bug infestation.
According to the NHS, an experimental laboratory study did show that bedbugs—
whose bites may cause rashes on the arms, hands, face or neck—strongly prefer red
and black for their dwellings and tend to avoid colours such as green and yellow. While
the findings are interesting, however, green and yellow sheets are not the complete
answer to the bed bug problem.
Mattress cleaning is still the strongest recommendation for a clean bed and a sound
slumber.
