Company Capabilities
- SFI’s position as a leading contractor in Jordan is backed by the company’s sound financial base
and its strong investment in its plant, equipment and expertise. Drawing on these strong resources,
the company has earned a prestigious reputation, with particular recognition for its civil and building
works.
- SFI is the only approved contractor/supplier of concrete barriers for the UNHCR in Jordan and has
produced a large number of different sizes of Jersey Barriers and T-Walls for Za’atari, Khalda office
and Irbed. SFI has produced 1504 sewage containment/septic tanks of the highest quality for World
Vision International (an American NGO) under the umbrella of UNICEF.
-SFI’s chief executive officer is a board member of the Jordan Concrete Association, and a board
member of the QA of buildings, the Scientific and the Building Materials & QC committees at the
Jordan Engineers Association and had researched and developed watertight concrete mixes in associ-
ation with the Swiss leaders OMYA and Jordan Carbonate.
- Our fully equipped precast yard is located at Marka (East of Amman) on a 70,000 sq.meter plot of
land (17.3 Acres). We operate five production lines serviced by 12 high capacity over-head cranes, 2

tower cranes, a 10 metric ton long span gantry crane, a steam curing system, a complete mold fabri-
cation workshop, a complete rebar cutting &bending station, three batching plants and a fully
equipped concrete laboratory. Our stacking areas are excessive which gives the option to continue
production at full capacity even when transportation to site will be temporarily not possible for any
reason.
Being the pioneers of precast concrete in the Middle East and a fully family owned business operat-
ing under the name of our late founder obliges SFI to always submit any works at the best quality
and in the shortest possible time.
Financially, SFI has maintained a solid 7 digit per annum turnover even after the economical
collapse in 2008. The owning family net worth is well into the 8 digits JOD and is expanding
into new markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

In Jordan, precast is presently synonymous with SFI and vice-versa. SFI has been in fact involved, in one
way or another, in practically all large projects in Jordan since 1978, the date at which SFI's precast plant
became operational. Since then, SFI has developed a solid know-how in design, fabrication and erection of
precast concrete elements, including sophisticated systems for earth retaining, liquid containing, roofing and
cladding.

Elements:
SFI, with its tremendous technical and produc-
tion possibilities, is presently in a position to help
in executing the largest and most sophisticated
projects, in the shortest time, with the best quality
and at the lowest cost.
Security Barriers:
Fence Walls:
Also called boundary walls, are used to protect
military and sensitive civilian facilities from in-
truders. 2.0 m (9ft) – 3.2 m (10’6”) high and de-
signed to withstand the impact forces generated
by the accidental or intentional collision of saloon cars and SUVs and therefore can be used successfully to
prevent breach of inner perimeter by most civilian vehicles.

Can optionally be topped by anti-rust epoxy resin based high zinc phosphate residue coated Y-sections to
support Concertina wires and several lines of barb wire without the need for stud columns at corners or at
linear stretches of any length.
Thickness is enough to tremendously slow down or completely stop projectiles such as those fired from au-
tomatic weapons.
Can optionally be made from anti-fragmentation concrete to reduce damage to wall and injuries caused by
small explosions such as hand grenades.
Damaged sections can be promptly remedied or replaced as SFI always keeps the elements of this standard
system readily available in stock.
Electrical conduits can be embedded in the columns to accommodate wiring for lighting units, sensors and
alarm systems.

Roofing Elements:
These include reinforced concrete slabs, hollowcore, single or double-tee prestressed slabs and special I-
section prestressed slabs for special projects.
Hollowcore slabs are produced currently in 20 cm and 35 cm thickness. They can span efficiently in multi-
storied buildings up to 16 m. Hollowcore slabs in 25 cm, 30 cm and up to 50 cm thickness could also be
produced allowing free spans over 20 m. The present capacity of production of hollow-core is 225,000
m 2 per year, for a two shift operation. Such capacity might be doubled in a very short time when needed.

Internal Bearing and Non-Bearing Walls:
Internal Walls poured in batteries are produced with both their sides fair-faced. Electrical conduits
and boxes may be placed within the walls prior to their pouring.

Housing Project
24. 2015
External Walls:
External walls are poured on horizontal tilting tables and may reach up to 12 m in length and 4.25
m in height. For projects requiring heights larger than 4.25 m, the wall elements are made with a
width less than 4.25 m and to the required length. The walls are transported in a rotated position
then tilted on site prior to their erection.
Sandwich panels are currently produced with an intermediary layer of expanded polystyrene
sheets 3 to 7 cm thick to insure the thermal insulation required by the most stringent building
codes.
Various external finishes might be produced:
- Smooth or textured fair-faced surfaces.
- Washed aggregate surface.
- Natural stone, marble or ceramic facing.
The internal surfaces of the wall are smoothed so as to be ready for paint after erection therefore
eliminating the high cost of plaster.
27. 2015
Stairs and Landings:
In large projects, precast stairs and landings allow for substantial cuts in cost and in execution
time. Such elements were produced and used successfully in residential, commercial and industri-
al projects.
28. 2015
Boundary Walls:
Grooved columns poured together with their footings are produced, allowing a quick and neat exe-
cution of boundary walls.

Special Elements:
Reinforced concrete elements for rainwater gutters,
stairs or elevator shafts, chimneys, septic tank cylindrical
walls, lintels, copings, 6m length curbstones, wheel stop-
pers and even 21.5 ton saddles to maintain in place sub-
marine pipelines are currently produced in SFI plant.
Three - dimensional reinforced concrete shafts and
roof elements are currently produced by SFI.
SFI, in collaboration with several world renowned
partners, has thoroughly researched, developed
and experimented on railway sleepers in prepara-
tion for any future projects in Jordan.

Quality
Design Stage:
Precast elements are designed to safely sustain all the loads during de-molding, handling,
transport and erection as well as the service loads after they become part of a complete structure.
SFI's teams are continuously trained and updated to ensure versatile designs and produce the
most practical shop drawings allowing for a smooth production and safe erection.
Structural designs and drawings, although prepared by SFI, are reviewed and approved by one of
best structural Engineers in Jordan.
Quality Control:
SFI has implemented a strict and documented system of quality control under the provisions of
ISO 9001:2000, including the inspection of molds, the inspection and testing of materials
and concretes, and the continuous checking of the adequate curing of the produced elements.
Furthermore, the well-equipped SFI plant laboratory is run under the direct supervision of well
known third parties.
34. 2015
Reliability:
Reliability is not only concerned with the quality of products and services rendered, but is also
concerned with the compliance with time schedules for delivery and erection agreed upon with the
clients.
The reliability of SFI has been well established to the extent that all projects executed during the
last few years were delivered well ahead of the agreed upon execution times.
Economy:
Economy in precast is achieved due to the following:
- Economy on molds and workmanship for highly repetitive elements or for hollowcore slabs.
- Economy on materials due to the use of high quality concretes and prestressing techniques.
- Economy on scaffoldings if precast cladding is used in high rise buildings.
- Substantial economy of time thanks to the large capacity of the SFI plant, to its large stacking
areas as well as to the fact that the elements might be produced independently of the progress
of work on site. For instance roof or cladding elements of a fifth floor in a building might be pro-
duced when the foundations on site have not been yet completed.
Cutting down in the execution time of a project leads automatically to a more feasible project.
35. 2015
These benefits are achieved by early completion which means early occupancy or operation
and reduced total project cost. The execution time of large projects may be cut by several
months and sometimes up to several years.

Turnkey Structures
The first project using SFI Precasting Plant was a housing project consisting of 1,026 apartments,
about 73 m 2 of floor area each, in 171 buildings. The project was built in 1978-79 using the large
panel system: bearing walls and reinforced concrete slabs. Stairs and landings in the project were
also executed with precast elements.
Subsequently, in the second half of 1979, hollowcore production started at the SFI plant. The large
panel system was developed to use hollowcore slabs instead of reinforced concrete slabs. Two
housing projects were built in Amman and Zarka. They included together 376 apartments, about
130 m 2 of floor area each, in 66 buildings.
As long as no more large housing projects were launched in Jordan after 1981, other construction
systems using columns and beams had to be developed. The Royal National Geographic Center,
designed by the well known French Architect Rogers Taillibert, was built using this latter system.
Precast reinforced concrete footings, columns, beams and cladding as well as precast prestressed
hollowcore slabs were used to complete the said remarkable buildings.
SFI factory became specialized in providing turnkey structures, generally multi-storied, with or
without precast external cladding.
41. 2015
The success of such structures was demonstrated lately in an industrial complex launched by a
real estate company for light industries in which two buildings were provided by SFI, while a third
one, similar in scope, was built using traditional methods. The clients willing to buy workshops and
stores in the complex prefer to buy in the buildings executed by SFI.
This does not mean that SFI is not producing and erecting precast elements like hollowcore slabs,
cladding elements, boundary walls and other precast elements.
