2. Paradox
●
A paradox is a statement that
apparently contradicts itself and yet
might be true. (From Wikipedia)
●
Something (such as a situation) that is
made up of two opposite things and
that seems impossible but is actually
true or possible (From Merriam-
Webster Dictionary)
3. 1 – Exalted through Humility
●
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the
sight of the Lord, and He will lift you
up.
●
The way UP is DOWN.
●
To be great, we must learn to serve.
4. 2 – Strong through Weakness
●
2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take
pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for
Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I
am strong.
●
When we are strong – We think God is not
important or needed.
●
When we are weak – We know how much
we depend on God.
5. 3 – Receive through Giving
●
Acts 20:35 I have shown you in every
way, by laboring like this, that you must
support the weak. And remember the
words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is
more blessed to give than to receive.'
●
The giver gets more than the recipient
●
The gift may last a short time
●
The feeling of giving lasts a long time
6. 4 – Freedom through Servitude
●
Romans 6:18 And having been set free
from sin, you became slaves of
righteousness.
●
Being a servant is our role.
●
The issue is who do you choose to be our
master?
●
We are free to choose who we will serve.
7. 5 – Gaining through Losing
●
Philippians 3:7-8 7 But what things were gain
to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the
excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my
Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all
things, and count them as rubbish, that I may
gain Christ
●
When you let go – you learn what you really
have
●
Lose house – still have family and life
8. 6 – Living through Dying
●
John 12:24-25 24 Most assuredly, I say to
you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the
ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it
dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who
loves his life will lose it, and he who hates
his life in this world will keep it for eternal
life.
●
Die to sin and the world – Live for eternity
●
If your faith costs you your life – you will
have eternal life.
9. 7 – Finding through Losing
●
Matthew 10:39 He who finds his life will
lose it, and he who loses his life for My
sake will find it.
●
Faith may cost you your life.
●
But you will find your eternal reward.
●
NOTE: Many say they are “trying to find
themselves” - Jesus said if you find your
life, you lose.
10. 7 Bible Paradoxes
●
Each of these statements seem to be a
contrdiction – until to think about it.
●
Then you realize that it is true.
●
ONE MORE: Many say that they can't be
saved because they have done too many
sinful things.
●
Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered that
the offense might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace abounded much more.
