2. April 1, 1948 founding of the Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society with the original executive board:Jim Gibbs, Tom Sandry, Joe Williamson, Bob Leithead and Austen Hemion. The goals of the Society were to preserve maritime history and to rebuild the maritime spirit of Seattle.
