LWM-1 Controller
Alarmline Analogue Linear Heat Detection

The LWM-1 Controller is an integral part of the
Alarmline Analogue Linear Heat Detection system. The
controller monitors the Alarmline Analogue sensor
cable and reports changes in temperature by
permanent supervision of the sensor cable resistance.
Configuration of the Alarmline Analogue Linear Heat
Detection system is provided through a number of
switch settings within the LWM-1 controller allowing
setting of alarm trip settings, system sensitivity etc.
Dual alarm functionality is provided with fixed
temperature alarm settings as well as rate of rise alarm
settings providing system flexibility.
Interfacing the LWM-1 controller to the main fire alarm
system is made simple by the provision of Volt Free
Changeover contacts for Alarm and Fault conditions.
Internal push buttons enable alarm and fault conditions
to be simulated confirming correct operation of the
system by operating the alarm and fault test switches
together an LED test will be perfomed. An additional
internal push button provides the ability to reset alarm
and fault conditions providing the conditions have been
cleared.
A monitored input is provided in the unit allowing a
remote reset facility. Connection of a key switch or volt
free switched output to the input allows the unit to be
reset without removing the cover. Unit can only be reset
once the alarm or fault condition has been removed.
The controller is provided in a compact ABS enclosure
rated IP65. A number of IP65 plastic cable glands are
provided pre-fitted to the unit.
LWM-1 has been approved by VdS to European
standard EN54-5: 2000. To comply with this approval the
maximum sensor cable length is limited to 300m,
although the maximum sensor cable length that can be
connected to the unit is 1,000m.
The LWM-1 controller is compatible with the following
Alarmline Analogue sensor cables:
K82017 Sensor cable - Standard blue
K82021 Sensor cable – Nylon coated
K82078 Sensor cable – Bronze braided*
K98166 Sensor cable – Stainless steel braid over Nylon
*Bronze braided sensor cable is not covered under the VdS
approval.
In conjunction with suitable safety barriers the LWM-1
can provide an intrinsically safe detection system for
hazardous areas
