Letter fromKroger CEO Dave Dillon
As I reflect at the end of this year, I want to thank you for the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization.
For decades,I’ve reminded myself continually to look for opportunities for us to be better, strongerand more useful
to one another. To me, if we want things to be different, it is up to us. As a company and a collective group of
people working togetherover the years, I believe we have changed our future and our customers’ future for the
better. We did that by each one of us choosing to step up to the task to make a personal difference. For that, I am
grateful to you.
No one can lead this amazing organization without a proxy from others. You have given me that proxy – your trust
and commitment in our plan and direction – for 10 years, and I can already see you will do the same for Rodney.
Again, grateful is the word that comes to mind. I like to say that food retailing is a team sport, and I know we have
the best team in retail.
In that sense, for the past 10 years you have always “had my back,” and I will be forever grateful. Grateful is the
best word I can find, but it doesn’t begin to express my deep personal thanks to each of you.It has been a great joy
to carry on the service tradition of a grocer’s work with you, my Kroger family, through these changing times.
A year from now, when I am fully retired, I plan to be one of yourbest customers – one of those whom we reference
in this line: “a highly satisfied customer made this paycheck possible.”
So from my heart to yours,THANK YOU. Be safe.
A note: This is my last weekly blog as your CEO. Next week, Rodney will take over as your blogger-in-chief.
