5. causes of the revolution
People were dissatisfied with shah’s rules against Islamic rules
Exile of Khomeini, death of modernist Islamist leader Ali Shariati
and Khomeini’s son who were both considered martyrs at the
hands of savak.
People didn’t want American’s take the oil’s income.
6. In 1978, September 8, Shah declared
martial law in Tehran and 11 other cities.
Large crowds took to the street unaware of
ban on protests.
Main crowd reached to central
square in Tehran.
The army warned the crowd.
Both sides fired.
Several people got killed.
