2. About Andaman
The history of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands lies shrouded in mystery and legend.
Numerous anti-British Indians were tortured to death and executed here. During the
British occupation, Islands were named after Generals who fought during the great
Indian Mutiny of 1857, and till date these Islands retain those very same English names.
The more recent history of the Andaman's starts with the establishment of British
bases and a penal colony in the 18th century. The construction of the infamous Cellular
Jail “"Kalapani" or "Black Waters" (Parents often warned their truant children that they
would be sent to Kalapani if they did not behave)
If endless white sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, pristine tropical
rainforests and romantic sunsets are the words that aptly describe your dream holiday,
there is no better destination than the Andaman Islands. This breath taking
archipelago lies in the Bay of Bengal and consists of 572 Islands of which only 36 are
inhabited. Virtually cut off for thousands of years from the continent, the history of
these Islands has always been shrouded in mystery and legend.

5. Scuba Diving
You will see more activity in a minute while scuba diving in the Andaman’s
than you can see in a whole day at safari in Africa. There is no better adrenaline
high and given the untouched, pristine coral reefs in the Andaman’s it is no
surprise that diving has become the most popular activity here.
Don’t know how to swim but want to scuba dive?
Not a problem at all!
You don’t necessarily need to know to swim to try diving. As long as you are
comfortable in the water and have general good health, you too can dive.
6. Snorkelling / Game Fishing
Shimmering gates of colourful healthy coral and a mind boggling variety of marine life
both large and small make the placid blue waters of the emerald isles ideal for the activity
of snorkelling.
Easy to learn, snorkelling is an activity that will thrill you and leave you asking for more.
It’s an unbelievable world simply waiting to be explored.
Huge masses of water are pulled through the islands by the tides each day providing
the smaller fish with an abundance of food, giving the predators plenty to eat and
grow. The Islands have large mangroves forests which provide excellent nursing
ground for the juvenile fish.
