Fishing nets have been used widely in the past, including by stone age societies. The oldest known fishing net is the net of Antrea, found with other fishing equipment in the Karelian town of Antrea. In ancient Greek literature, Ovid makes many references to fishing nets, including the use of cork floats. Types:-... Bottom trawl A trawl is a large net, conical in shape, designed to be towed along the sea bottom. The trawl is pulled through the water by one or more boats, called trawlers or draggers. The activity of pulling the trawl through the water is called trawling or dragging. Cast net Cast, or throw nets are small round nets with weights on the edges which is thrown by the fisher. Sizes vary up to about four metres in diameter. The net is thrown by hand in such a manner that it spreads out on the water and sinks. Fish are caught as the net is hauled back in. Coracle net fishing Coracle fishing is performed by two people, each seated in a coracle, plying their paddle with one hand and holding a shared net with the other. When a fish is caught, each hauls up their end of the net until the two coracles are brought to touch and the fish is secured. Lave Net A special form of large hand net is the lave net, now used in very few locations on the River Severn in England and Wales. The lave net is set in the water and the fisherman waits till he feels a fish hit against the mesh and the net is then lifted. Hand net Hand nets are held open by a hoop and are possibly on the end of a long stiff handle. They have been known since antiquity and may be used for sweeping up fish near the water surface. 19.  First of all, Raw material is fed to extruder and
form a plastic filament and are cooled and
solidified in the quenching bath.
 After going different roller bath and are
stretched, the monofilaments are annealed in the
subsequent annealing bath (Heated then cooled
slowly)
 Each filament is wound round the winder bobbin.
 The thickness of a monofilament is decided on
according to its end use, and is also controlled
by the extruding rate of the extruder and by
stretching ratio.

20.  The monofilament bobbin is set on the 4-
spindle strander S-type creel stand, and a
fixed number of monofilaments are twisted
by 4-spindle strander. The twines are then
rewound round the balling machine, and
become fishing net.

21.  A fixed number of monofilaments are twisted on
the creel stand.
 As the first yarns thus produced are still thin, a
fixed number of yarns are set on the dies twister
creel and are twisted to become a second yarns.
 The second yarns are set on the strander, and
strands are produced by twisting a fixed number
of the second yarns.
 Three strands bobbins are set on the rope layer
and sport nets are produced by twisting the three
strands.

22.  These strands are interconnected with each
other by various methods:
◦ Fusing Method
 In Fusing method yarns are kept perpendicular
to each other and fused with the help of heat
and pressing.
◦ Knotting Method
 While in knotting method a knotting machine is
used to knot the yarns with each other to form
a net.

23.  Fishing nets are used to caught fishes which
is used for food.
