2. The Problem?
The role of healthcare professionals is to:
- intervene / prevent migration of diseases. Injury and other health condition around the
world.
Done Through:
- Surveillance of cases
- Promotion of healthy behaviors in communities and environments
Can’t be done effectively with limited person to person contact.
Changes and innovations to be done to combat covid-19 pandemic
3. Healthcare Workers Past
● Before the Covid-19 pandemic many people in politics thought that public
hospitals had to many unused resources and needed to be scaled down.
● Healthcare workers had to push back to defend the need of the number of
bes and personnel to be able to efficiently operate and stressed the need
for them if a major emergency happened.
● CDC reported that many health professionals do not wash their hands as
much as they should given their environment, about 25% of people fail to
use soap when washing hands and another 10% just don’t wash their
hands regularly.
5. Healthcare Workers Present
● During the Covid-19 pandemic healthcare
workers are overrun with taking care of
patients.
● This brings high stress to the entire
healthcare workforce.
● PPE and other medical supplies are in
short supply.
● Due to coronavirus high communicability,
patient care has become much more time
consuming and workers have to be very
cautious .
6. Healthcare Workers Present
● Some healthcare workers had to get creative during the
lack of supply.
● Trash bags, ski goggles, and many other non medical
equipment have been used where resources are
lacking in PPE.
● Doctors have attached apators and tubing to
ventilators to be able to be used by multiple patients.
● Although there are risk of doing this that make it more
of a hassle. (patients having different lung resistances,
patients having different strains of covid-19,
crosscontamintation)
