3. In general, environment refers
to the surroundings of an
object, or the Natural
environment, all living and
non-living things that occur
naturally on Earth.
- As defined by Wikipedia
6. All the organisms in the
environment which interact
with each other along with
the physical factors of the
environment, which are non
living, make up an
ECOSYSTEM.
7. BIOTIC
• All living
organisms
ABIOTIC
• Non-living constituents
• Ex. Temperature
• Humidity
• Pressure
• Soil
• Minerals
• Wind
ECOSYSTEM
12. A series of organisms
feeding on one another
is known as a food
chain.
13. make organic compounds using inorganic substances in
the presence of chlorophyll using the energy stored in
sunlight
Consume food produces either directly from the above
or from other organisms who eat the above.
Simplify organic compounds into inorganic substances
and replenishes the soil with these.
15. Water pollution and FOOD
CHAIN
Our farmers use different chemicals to protect their
crops from diseases ,pests ,Insects, weather changes
and also for their faster growth.
But excessive use of these chemicals leads to water
pollution. These chemicals are either washed down to
the soil or water bodies.
And water is very important for all life forms.
Organisms drink water from these water bodies and these
chemicals which are toxic for organisms, enter into the food
chain.
Herbivores eat plants which take these toxins while
absorbing water and minerals from the soil –another way.
18. Changes in the environment affect our
lives and our activities make changes in
the environment
Adverse effects of our activities = threat to
our environment
•Oz level depletion
•Garbage , garbage
everywhere
19. Ozone(O3) is poisonous for life forms but in the
higher levels of the atmosphere it performs a
crucial function of protecting us and our earth
from the powerful UV radiations of the Sun
When higher energy UV radiations act on O2,it
get split into two individual oxygen atoms.
These individual atoms then combine with O2 to
form O3.
Due to the use of CFCs ,ozone layer is getting
depleted.
21. Why so much garbage?
• Improved and improving lifestyle
• Changes in packaging
• E –waste
• Lack of proper garbage disposing
mechanisms.
• More use of non biodegradable items.
23. • Our choices can make a difference.
Our daily decisions should be eco
friendly.

economic development is linked to
environmental development
