Molecular Immunopatological Study of ACE2 Expression and
Polymorphism in COVID-19 Patients in Duhok City ,Kurdistan Region of
Iraq

• In this report I have summarized my Ph.D. research progress from
June 2021 to January 2023. This time period corresponds to part of
the second and third year of my Ph.D. candidacy.
• As stated in my proposal, the goal of my Ph.D. research is to clarify
the impacts of Covid-19 in hospitalized patients in Duhok province-
Kurdistan region by illustrating and finding out the toxic impacts of
SARS-CoV-2 in infected patients that induces cytokine storm and
evokes oxidative stress, which therefore increase fatality rate of the
aforementioned patients. Furthermore the evaluation of multi-
therapy (poly- pharmacy) impacts in the hospitalized patients.

Why this study ?
• Whole genome sequence and phylogenetic
analysis of SARS-CoV-2 from the cases of covid-19
and ACE2 Polymorphisms.
• The proposal will examine the assessment of the
expression rates of ACE2 in different age groups
and gender and their correlation with the severity
of infection.
• Investigation of Interaction and Inhibition
between the Spike Protein RBD of SARS- CoV-2
and ACE2-Expressing Cells.
