A virus inserts its DNA into a host cell and uses the cell's machinery to make copies of itself until it lyses or bursts about 200 copies of the viral DNA and proteins from the host cell. The virus has a life cycle where it inserts genetic material into a host cell and forces the cell to produce new virus particles until the cell ruptures releasing new virus particles to infect more cells.
