THIS IS THE PROFESSIONAL PRESENCE OF SHIRLEY DOSKY
Hello, my name is Shirley Dosky.
My journey into Instructional Design and Performance Technology began at Franklin University’s Master’s Program.
It started when I attended a job fair at Franklin University and visited the table for the Masters programs. The representative asked me questions about myself and then introduced me to the program of Instructional Design. We discussed what I would be learning such as ; needs analysis, designing solutions to meet those needs and evaluating the effectiveness of the solutions. We also talked about how instructional design can lead to performance improvement techniques. I knew immediately this was the career move I was looking for. I had been looking for a change that would allow me to utilize the skills I already possess and connect them with the new skills of instructional design.
These topics will take you through my journey.
Here are just a few of the most recent projects that I have developed and designed. Teaching Basics and Time management are my most recent projects and most proud of. They are good examples of my work.,
I have researched many aspects of Instructional Design and found the most interesting topic to be the Constructivism approach to how people learn. This theory explains how the learner builds their knowledge of a topic, through experience and personal reflection on those experiences. I also found that the use of the Backward Design very useful is developing a course.
The competencies included here are a combination of prior existing competencies as well newly developed ones. This combination makes me a valuable asset to any organization.
While I feel that all of these theories are important you can see based on the percentages I have given them. I lean more to the constructivism, specifically for adult learning.
There are many models for use in Instructional Design. I have listed several that I have utilized in the projects mentioned earlier.
MY career goal is to begin a new journey in Instructional Design, with a organization that will allow me to continue to develop, expand and share my knowledge and experiences.
