Difficult roads often lead
to beautiful destinations…
Dear Reader,
Wish you a very warm welcome.
I’d like to narrate you a very short story on life…
A man and his son were going through the forest
hills. Suddenly, the boy fell down on the trail and
screamed with a pain, “Aah!” Surprisingly, he
heard the same voice from the mountain, “Aah!”
Curiously, the boy shouted, “Who is this?” But the
voice replied the same, “Who is this?” He got
angry, and shouted again, “You are stupid!” And
again the voice replied the same, “You are
stupid!”
Annoyed By this, the boy asked his father, “Father,
What is going on? Who is this?” The Father
replied, “Son, Pay attention”. The father shouted,
“You are very nice”. And the voice responded the
same, “You are very nice!” The father again
shouted, “Thank you”. And the voice again
responded the same, “Thank you!” The son was
very surprised but he still could not understand
what was happening.
The father explained, “Son, people call it
resonance, but this is the truth of the life. The life
is a reflection of your actions. What you will give
to others, you will receive the same in return.”
Moral: What we give to others, life gives us the
same in return. Your life is not an accident or a
coincidence, but it is the shadow of your actions.
Thank you and best wishes for your success.

The Mackenzie Poltergesit is one of the most famours attractions when taking the City of the Dead
tour within the Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh as people who join tour experience bruises,
scratches, and some even faint as they enter and see the Black Mausoleum where Sir George
Mackenzie lies.
This is the dead body of Ramses II, The Firaun (The Egyptian King) in the era of
Prophet Musa (Moses) Peace be upon Him. Its age if approximately 3000 years old
and it was found by the Red Sea, at the place called Jabalain, and is now on display
in the Royal Mummies Chamber of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
The most amazing thing with this dead body is; it isn’t a mummy. Scientists say that
this body is amazingly preserved without any mummification; even all of the
internal organs are not removed.
The answer to this amazing mystery is mentioned in The Holy Quran (10: 90 – 92),
“We brought the tribe of Israel across the sea and Pharaoh and his troops pursued
them out of tyranny and enmity. Then, when he was on the point of drowning he
said, “I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel
believe, and I am on the Muslims.” Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and
were of the corrupters? So today We will save you in body that you may be to those
who succeed you a sign for people who come after you. And indeed, many people
are heedless of Our Signs.”

The Blind Man with the Lamp
Once upon a time, there was a
small town. There lived a man
by himself who couldn’t see.
He was blind. Yet, he carried a
lighted lamp with him
whenever he went out at night.
One night as he was coming
home after having a dinner
outside, he came across a
group of young travelers.
They saw that he was blind, yet carrying a lighted lamp. They started passing
comments on him and made a fun of him.
One of them asked him, “Hey Man! You are blind and can’t see anything! Why do
you carry the lamp then?”
The blind man replied, “Yes, unfortunately, I am blind and I can’t see anything but a
lighted lamp which I am carrying is for the people like you who can see. You may
not see the blind man coming and end up pushing me. That is why I carry a lighted
lamp”.
The group of travelers felt ashamed and apologized for their behavior.
Moral: There’s a story behind every person. There’s a reason
why they’re the way they are. Think about that before you
judge someone.

JAMMU &
KASHMIR
India
Jammu & Kashmir is a state in northern India, often denoted by the
acronym J&K. it is located mostly in the Himalayan Mountains. As
calculated in 2011, the total population of J&K is 12.55 million; which is
more than the total population of 133 independent nations in the world.
Turn over to know more amazing facts about Jammu and Kashmir.
© The MAGEX Weekly
People here have two citizenships; one
of Jammu & Kashmir and the other of
India. If a girl belonging to J&K gets
married to a person of any other state,
her citizenship gets terminated. But if
she gets married to a citizen of Pakistan,
then that man will get the citizenship of
J&K. Also the citizen of J&K can be the
citizen of India, but a citizen of India
cannot be the citizen of Jammu
&Kashmir.
The government of India rules over 60%
of the area of J&K while the rest 30% is
taken over by Pakistan and 10% was
occupied by China after 1962 war.
Connected to 3 nuclear – armed
countries, J&K is described as the most
strategically and dangerously located
places in the world.
Last but not the least, people belonging to other states cannot purchase property
in Jammu & Kashmir because of a special autonomy under Article 370 of the
Constitution of India.

Amar Mahal is an extraordinary royal
piece of French architecture. Also known
as Amar Palace is now converted in a
museum. View of Jammu town looks
amazing from the palace which is situated
on the Shivalik hill slope and on the bank
of Tawi river. The museum is a popular as
a tourist attraction with its large collection
The palace was built by a French architect
on the line of French chateau. Dr. Karan
Singh donated the palace to Hari-Tara
charitable trust which further became the
museum. In 1975, the museum was
inaugurated by late Prime Minister Indira
Gandhi.
of portraits of royal families, Pahari ani
Kangra miniature paintings and various
valuable royal belongings. The collection
includes 120kg golden throne as well.
Amar Mahal was built during nineteenth
century by Raja Amar singh and became
last official residence of Dogra dynasty.
The red stone palace looks beautiful
among the green trees. Special mention
can be of those Dashavatara paintings
which come under ‘Modern paintings’
category. Jammu town is famous for its
hospitality and it’s beauty. Jammu is also
famous for many temples, forts and
palaces but Amar Mahal remains special
one.
Amar Mahal
Study of Dogra Art and Architecture has
been really fascinating. A walk through
Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex, always
tempted me to get a inner glimpse. Though
major portion of the same is now buried in
the heart of time, still, a traveller can get a
glimpse of what remains.
Though devastated by natural disasters
like earthquakes and frequent fire
accidents perhaps made Maharaja Hari
Singh to move over to the Manda to
occupy Amar Mahal and Hari Nivas
palaces.
The Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex has
rich history, magnificent art and
architecture and fantasy too. One should
listen to the thrilling story of the Mia
Motta who is buried in the complex and
also about the Baba Ragho.
The unique design style of using shingles
from the riverbed with pink color makes it
spectacular.

The famous and sparkling blue Pangong lake is
situated near Leh-Ladakh in the Himalayas,
approximately at the height of 4350 meters. This
endorheic lake is 12 kilometres long and extends
from India to Tibet, with two-thirds of it lying in
the latter. Owing to its altitude, the temperature
here ranges from -5°C to 10°C as a result of
which the lake freezes completely during winters
in spite of its salinity.
Due to the briny water, the lake does not support
aquatic life other than some ocean bugs called
crustaceans by oceanographers. Pangong lake is
home to many migrating birds in summer, and
one can witness numerous ducks and gulls
"surfing". Other than being a haven for these
birds, it is also an important breeding ground for
birds like Brahmani ducks and seagulls.
A unique feature of the lake is that it does not
remain blue throughout the year or even the day,
rather it changes colours from azure to light blue
to green and grey too! It has been a tourist
attraction for a very long time and has gained
further popularity after being a 'hot-spot' for
many film shoots, apart from being an essential
for anyone travelling to Leh - Ladakh. The
sublime beauty, crystal waters and gentle hills of
Pangong Lake are an exceptional example of the
beautiful landscape of the region.
Some are lucky to spot a Kiang which is a wild
ass or a Marmot, which is a brownish rodent
native to Ladakh that can grow upto the size of a
small dog. There are two streams from the Indian
side that form the wetlands and marshes at the
edges. It is the beauty of the impeccable blue
waters that embezzle the tourist's attention the
most. The serenity and tranquillity of this place
are the tourist's paradise.
PANGONG LAKE
Shanti Stupa
Shanti Stupa is one of the magnificent Tibetan
structures that has ever been built. The
architecture and the beauty of this place are
unexplainable. Shanti Stupa is a white-dome
structure dedicated to Buddhism. Located on the
hilltop of Chamspa in Leh, it is one of the major
tourist attractions of Ladakh not only for its
religious significance for also for its splendid
views of the surrounding mountain ranges that it
has to offer. This marvelous structure is an
example of the ties between Japan and India.
Tso Moriri Lake
Between Ladakh and Tibet, lies Moriri Lake, the
largest high altitude lakes in India, at an altitude
of 4,595m. This stretch of sparkling, crystal clear,
alkaline water is accessible only during summer
months.
Leh Palace
Modelled on the basis of the Potala Palace in
Lhasa, Leh Palace was built by King Sengge
Namgyal in the 17th century. The palace is nine
storeys high, where the upper floors used to
accommodate the royal family, while the lower
floors held stables and store rooms. The roof
provides panoramic views of Leh and the
surrounding areas, as the mountain of Stok
Kangri in the Zangskar mountain range is visible
across the Indus valley to the south, with the
Ladakh mountain range rising behind the palace
is visible in the north.
Kardung la pass
One of the highest motorable passes in the world,
Kardung la pass is the gateway to Nubra Valley.
Kids can make their snowman or even ride yak.
Above is a signboard of what has famously come
to be known as the ‘Magnetic Hill’ in Ladakh. It
invites you to be a part of and experience this
mystifying phenomenon first hand. Follow the
instructions on the signage and your car actually
starts moving on its own at speeds of 10-20 km
per hour. Who could have imagined that a
vehicle could move up a steep mountain, with its
ignition off? Sounds quite unbelievable! Not only
are the vehicles traveling on the road attracted by
the magnetic powers of this hill, even the
helicopters and aircrafts feel the same magnetic
impact. Many claim that natural or even
supernatural forces are at work here causing the
magnetic attractions.
However, there is some scientific reasoning to
this phenomenon as well. The Magnetic Hill is a
place where the layout of the surrounding land
produces the optical illusion that a very slight
downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope.
Thus, a vehicle left out of gear will appear to be
rolling uphill. The slope of hill is an optical
illusion. A completely or majorly obstructed
horizon is the most important factor contributing
to the illusion. As, in the absence of a horizon it
becomes difficult to judge the slope of a surface.
If the horizon cannot be seen or is not level, then
we may be fooled by objects that we expect to be
vertical but that really are not.
MAGNETIC HILLS
Where things happen against the gravity!!!
NUBRA VALLEY
Nubra valley is a dash of lush greenery in Ladakh's dessert and moonlike landscapes
and slopes, being almost 3000m lower than Leh. Snuggled between the Karakoram
Range and nourished by two rivers, Nubra is brimming with Sea buckthorns and
Alfalfa. During summers, the whole valley is carpeted with Pink and yellow roses and
by Autumn in oodles of wild lavenders which, like almost everything around it, a sight
beyond simple natural beauty. To travel to this place, tourists require an Inner Line
Permit, that they can obtain in Leh.

Traveling to the Namgyal Tsemo Gompa makes
you encounter the steep mountains and
submerges you in its serene and spiritual folds.
The monastery has long lured travelers seeking

Spituk Monastery
Spituk Monastery also called as Spituk Gompa or
Pethup Gompa. It is a Buddhist monastery in Leh
district, Ladakh, northern India. It is located at 8
kilometres from Leh. The monastery contains 100
monks and a giant statue of Kali.
Hall of Fame Museum
Located at approximately 4 km from the main
city, this glorified museum was built in memory
of the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting
for India at the Indo-Pakistan war.
Spituk Monastery also called as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa. It is a Buddhist monastery in Leh
district, Ladakh, northern India. It is located at 8 kilometres from Leh. The monastery contains 100
monks and a giant statue of Kali. Spituk Monastery is also known as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa
among the locals. It is a Buddhist monastery situated in Leh district, Ladakh, northern India. The site
was blessed by the Arhat Nyimagung. It was founded by Od-de, the elder brother of Lha Lama
Changchub Od when he came to Maryul in the 11th Century. He introduced the monastic
community. When Lotsewa Rinchen Zangpo (Translator) came to that place he said that an
exemplary religious community would arise there and so the monastery was called spituk. It consists
of 100 monks and a giant statue of Kali.

  • 8. Dear Reader, Wish you a very warm welcome. I’d like to narrate you a very short story on life… A man and his son were going through the forest hills. Suddenly, the boy fell down on the trail and screamed with a pain, “Aah!” Surprisingly, he heard the same voice from the mountain, “Aah!” Curiously, the boy shouted, “Who is this?” But the voice replied the same, “Who is this?” He got angry, and shouted again, “You are stupid!” And again the voice replied the same, “You are stupid!” Annoyed By this, the boy asked his father, “Father, What is going on? Who is this?” The Father replied, “Son, Pay attention”. The father shouted, “You are very nice”. And the voice responded the same, “You are very nice!” The father again shouted, “Thank you”. And the voice again responded the same, “Thank you!” The son was very surprised but he still could not understand what was happening. The father explained, “Son, people call it resonance, but this is the truth of the life. The life is a reflection of your actions. What you will give to others, you will receive the same in return.” Moral: What we give to others, life gives us the same in return. Your life is not an accident or a coincidence, but it is the shadow of your actions. Thank you and best wishes for your success. Shoaib Makki T.J. • 14. Did You Know? In the small town of Taos, New Mexico, there is a certain buzz often heard on the horizon that can be compared to the sound of a distant diesel engine. Although it can be heard by the naked ear, various sound detection devices are not able to pick it up. © The MAGEX Weekly The Mackenzie Poltergesit is one of the most famours attractions when taking the City of the Dead tour within the Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh as people who join tour experience bruises, scratches, and some even faint as they enter and see the Black Mausoleum where Sir George Mackenzie lies.
  • 15. This is the dead body of Ramses II, The Firaun (The Egyptian King) in the era of Prophet Musa (Moses) Peace be upon Him. Its age if approximately 3000 years old and it was found by the Red Sea, at the place called Jabalain, and is now on display in the Royal Mummies Chamber of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The most amazing thing with this dead body is; it isn’t a mummy. Scientists say that this body is amazingly preserved without any mummification; even all of the internal organs are not removed. The answer to this amazing mystery is mentioned in The Holy Quran (10: 90 – 92), “We brought the tribe of Israel across the sea and Pharaoh and his troops pursued them out of tyranny and enmity. Then, when he was on the point of drowning he said, “I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am on the Muslims.” Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters? So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign for people who come after you. And indeed, many people are heedless of Our Signs.” Amazing Facts!!! © The MAGEX Weekly
  • 16. © The MAGEX Weekly The Blind Man with the Lamp Once upon a time, there was a small town. There lived a man by himself who couldn’t see. He was blind. Yet, he carried a lighted lamp with him whenever he went out at night. One night as he was coming home after having a dinner outside, he came across a group of young travelers. They saw that he was blind, yet carrying a lighted lamp. They started passing comments on him and made a fun of him. One of them asked him, “Hey Man! You are blind and can’t see anything! Why do you carry the lamp then?” The blind man replied, “Yes, unfortunately, I am blind and I can’t see anything but a lighted lamp which I am carrying is for the people like you who can see. You may not see the blind man coming and end up pushing me. That is why I carry a lighted lamp”. The group of travelers felt ashamed and apologized for their behavior. But if she gets married to a citizen of Pakistan, then that man will get the citizenship of J&K. Also the citizen of J&K can be the citizen of India, but a citizen of India cannot be the citizen of Jammu &Kashmir. The government of India rules over 60% of the area of J&K while the rest 30% is taken over by Pakistan and 10% was occupied by China after 1962 war. Connected to 3 nuclear – armed countries, J&K is described as the most strategically and dangerously located places in the world. Last but not the least, people belonging to other states cannot purchase property in Jammu & Kashmir because of a special autonomy under Article 370 of the Constitution of India. © The MAGEX Weekly

  • 22. Study of Dogra Art and Architecture has been really fascinating. A walk through Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex, always tempted me to get a inner glimpse. Though major portion of the same is now buried in the heart of time, still, a traveller can get a glimpse of what remains. Though devastated by natural disasters like earthquakes and frequent fire accidents perhaps made Maharaja Hari Singh to move over to the Manda to occupy Amar Mahal and Hari Nivas palaces. The Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex has rich history, magnificent art and architecture and fantasy too. One should listen to the thrilling story of the Mia Motta who is buried in the complex and also about the Baba Ragho. The unique design style of using shingles from the riverbed with pink color makes it spectacular. Mubarak Mandi Palace

  • 27. © The MAGEX Weekly The famous and sparkling blue Pangong lake is situated near Leh-Ladakh in the Himalayas, approximately at the height of 4350 meters. This endorheic lake is 12 kilometres long and extends from India to Tibet, with two-thirds of it lying in the latter. Owing to its altitude, the temperature here ranges from -5°C to 10°C as a result of which the lake freezes completely during winters in spite of its salinity. Due to the briny water, the lake does not support aquatic life other than some ocean bugs called crustaceans by oceanographers. Pangong lake is home to many migrating birds in summer, and one can witness numerous ducks and gulls "surfing". Other than being a haven for these birds, it is also an important breeding ground for birds like Brahmani ducks and seagulls. A unique feature of the lake is that it does not remain blue throughout the year or even the day, rather it changes colours from azure to light blue to green and grey too! It has been a tourist attraction for a very long time and has gained further popularity after being a 'hot-spot' for many film shoots, apart from being an essential for anyone travelling to Leh - Ladakh. The sublime beauty, crystal waters and gentle hills of Pangong Lake are an exceptional example of the beautiful landscape of the region. Some are lucky to spot a Kiang which is a wild ass or a Marmot, which is a brownish rodent native to Ladakh that can grow upto the size of a small dog. There are two streams from the Indian side that form the wetlands and marshes at the edges. It is the beauty of the impeccable blue waters that embezzle the tourist's attention the most. The serenity and tranquillity of this place are the tourist's paradise. PANGONG LAKE

Leh Palace Modelled on the basis of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Leh Palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century. The palace is nine storeys high, where the upper floors used to accommodate the royal family, while the lower floors held stables and store rooms. • 29. Above is a signboard of what has famously come to be known as the ‘Magnetic Hill’ in Ladakh. It invites you to be a part of and experience this mystifying phenomenon first hand. Follow the instructions on the signage and your car actually starts moving on its own at speeds of 10-20 km per hour. Who could have imagined that a vehicle could move up a steep mountain, with its ignition off? Sounds quite unbelievable! Not only are the vehicles traveling on the road attracted by the magnetic powers of this hill, even the helicopters and aircrafts feel the same magnetic impact. Many claim that natural or even supernatural forces are at work here causing the magnetic attractions. However, there is some scientific reasoning to this phenomenon as well. The Magnetic Hill is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a vehicle left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill. The slope of hill is an optical illusion. A completely or majorly obstructed horizon is the most important factor contributing to the illusion. As, in the absence of a horizon it becomes difficult to judge the slope of a surface. If the horizon cannot be seen or is not level, then we may be fooled by objects that we expect to be vertical but that really are not. MAGNETIC HILLS Where things happen against the gravity!!!
