8. Dear Reader,
Wish you a very warm welcome.
I’d like to narrate you a very short story on life…
A man and his son were going through the forest
hills. Suddenly, the boy fell down on the trail and
screamed with a pain, “Aah!” Surprisingly, he
heard the same voice from the mountain, “Aah!”
Curiously, the boy shouted, “Who is this?” But the
voice replied the same, “Who is this?” He got
angry, and shouted again, “You are stupid!” And
again the voice replied the same, “You are
stupid!”
Annoyed By this, the boy asked his father, “Father,
What is going on? Who is this?” The Father
replied, “Son, Pay attention”. The father shouted,
“You are very nice”. And the voice responded the
same, “You are very nice!” The father again
shouted, “Thank you”. And the voice again
responded the same, “Thank you!” The son was
very surprised but he still could not understand
what was happening.
The father explained, “Son, people call it
resonance, but this is the truth of the life. The life
is a reflection of your actions. What you will give
to others, you will receive the same in return.”
Moral: What we give to others, life gives us the
same in return. Your life is not an accident or a
coincidence, but it is the shadow of your actions.
Thank you and best wishes for your success.

21. Amar Mahal is an extraordinary royal
piece of French architecture. Also known
as Amar Palace is now converted in a
museum. View of Jammu town looks
amazing from the palace which is situated
on the Shivalik hill slope and on the bank
of Tawi river. The museum is a popular as
a tourist attraction with its large collection
The palace was built by a French architect
on the line of French chateau. Dr. Karan
Singh donated the palace to Hari-Tara
charitable trust which further became the
museum. In 1975, the museum was
inaugurated by late Prime Minister Indira
Gandhi.
of portraits of royal families, Pahari ani
Kangra miniature paintings and various
valuable royal belongings. The collection
includes 120kg golden throne as well.
Amar Mahal was built during nineteenth
century by Raja Amar singh and became
last official residence of Dogra dynasty.
The red stone palace looks beautiful
among the green trees. Special mention
can be of those Dashavatara paintings
which come under ‘Modern paintings’
category. Jammu town is famous for its
hospitality and it’s beauty. Jammu is also
famous for many temples, forts and
palaces but Amar Mahal remains special
one.

22. Study of Dogra Art and Architecture has
been really fascinating. A walk through
Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex, always
tempted me to get a inner glimpse. Though
major portion of the same is now buried in
the heart of time, still, a traveller can get a
glimpse of what remains.
Though devastated by natural disasters
like earthquakes and frequent fire
accidents perhaps made Maharaja Hari
Singh to move over to the Manda to
occupy Amar Mahal and Hari Nivas
palaces.
The Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex has
rich history, magnificent art and
architecture and fantasy too. One should
listen to the thrilling story of the Mia
Motta who is buried in the complex and
also about the Baba Ragho.
The unique design style of using shingles
from the riverbed with pink color makes it
spectacular.

28. Shanti Stupa
Shanti Stupa is one of the magnificent Tibetan
structures that has ever been built. The
architecture and the beauty of this place are
unexplainable. Shanti Stupa is a white-dome
structure dedicated to Buddhism. Located on the
hilltop of Chamspa in Leh, it is one of the major
tourist attractions of Ladakh not only for its
religious significance for also for its splendid
views of the surrounding mountain ranges that it
has to offer. This marvelous structure is an
example of the ties between Japan and India.
Tso Moriri Lake
Between Ladakh and Tibet, lies Moriri Lake, the
largest high altitude lakes in India, at an altitude
of 4,595m. This stretch of sparkling, crystal clear,
alkaline water is accessible only during summer
months.
Leh Palace
Modelled on the basis of the Potala Palace in
Lhasa, Leh Palace was built by King Sengge
Namgyal in the 17th century. The palace is nine
storeys high, where the upper floors used to
accommodate the royal family, while the lower
floors held stables and store rooms. The roof
provides panoramic views of Leh and the
surrounding areas, as the mountain of Stok
Kangri in the Zangskar mountain range is visible
across the Indus valley to the south, with the
Ladakh mountain range rising behind the palace
is visible in the north.
Kardung la pass
One of the highest motorable passes in the world,
Kardung la pass is the gateway to Nubra Valley.
Kids can make their snowman or even ride yak.
29. Above is a signboard of what has famously come
to be known as the ‘Magnetic Hill’ in Ladakh. It
invites you to be a part of and experience this
mystifying phenomenon first hand. Follow the
instructions on the signage and your car actually
starts moving on its own at speeds of 10-20 km
per hour. Who could have imagined that a
vehicle could move up a steep mountain, with its
ignition off? Sounds quite unbelievable! Not only
are the vehicles traveling on the road attracted by
the magnetic powers of this hill, even the
helicopters and aircrafts feel the same magnetic
impact. Many claim that natural or even
supernatural forces are at work here causing the
magnetic attractions.
However, there is some scientific reasoning to
this phenomenon as well. The Magnetic Hill is a
place where the layout of the surrounding land
produces the optical illusion that a very slight
downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope.
Thus, a vehicle left out of gear will appear to be
rolling uphill. The slope of hill is an optical
illusion. A completely or majorly obstructed
horizon is the most important factor contributing
to the illusion. As, in the absence of a horizon it
becomes difficult to judge the slope of a surface.
If the horizon cannot be seen or is not level, then
we may be fooled by objects that we expect to be
vertical but that really are not.

32. Spituk Monastery also called as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa. It is a Buddhist monastery in Leh
district, Ladakh, northern India. It is located at 8 kilometres from Leh. The monastery contains 100
monks and a giant statue of Kali. Spituk Monastery is also known as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa
among the locals. It is a Buddhist monastery situated in Leh district, Ladakh, northern India. The site
was blessed by the Arhat Nyimagung. It was founded by Od-de, the elder brother of Lha Lama

exemplary religious community would arise there and so the monastery was called spituk. It consists
