Methodology:
The survey was done using google doc application sending invitation to the more than 48 participants.
Various links were set up on social media sites like Facebook, twitter, google plus and LinkedIn for
inviting people for the participation.
During this survey the participants were asked various questions in terms of internet terminology, rights,
quality of standard, technology used, safety online and user behavior.
The selection of participants has been random including invitations sent and shared. Participants from
various field and sectors have contributed in voicing the current problems and suggestion of what they
have faced and what should be done to make internet more secure and feasible.
We have tried to encompass various youth leaders from different regions in getting their responses to
the survey.

 Youth Gaps – There is a difference of knowledge, capacity and awareness among youth of
developed and developing nation | Research in Youth gaps and focused programs

Survey Conclusions:
Youths are the voice of today and future, from developing nation to least developed nation, youth stand
as a focal point of change. “Youth on the table” or next generation leaders whatever we call them they
are the focus of the evolving technology where on contrary, they are the most vulnerable group.
This survey was conducted in various parts of the world to evaluate the various indicators of youth
leadership and challenges in contrast to their internet ecosystem and their behavior. The youth
leadership, youth involvement and youth engagement are various aspect of youth in internet
governance process which majorly inspires the future of tomorrow.
During the survey, we observed a strong voice of youth being one of the stakeholder and their role of
engagement and involvement. But with limited resources and obstacle of lack of awareness and proper
capacity building, there seems to be a gap creating a limitation of youth roles and responsibilities where
youth are being ignored at various policy level.
Somewhere down the line, the survey clearly shows two side of the story where in both side youth are
the focal point in Internet Governance process but the indicators shifts in various ways conditioning the
socio economical structure.
In one side it highlights the issues of the developing and least developing nations where there is huge
need of awareness of internet core values and clarity in role of youth as a definite stakeholder. The
major challenges here are:
1. Youth of developing nation face issues of internet politics
2. Lack of information about fellowship and other leadership opportunity
3. Lack of proper leadership and capacity program is also another issue
4. Guidance and networks are major challenges
5. Funding and fellowship are challenge
Whereas on the other side for the developed nations the challenges seems to be more focused towards
utilizing the resources and opportunities with right awareness and capacity program. The major
challenges here are:
1. Lack of proper focused awareness program
2. More leadership opportunities are there but there is less engagement
3. Focused programs needs to support youth towards giving direction
4. Collaboration and networking
Diversity has been a major concern in establishing the role and engagement of youth leadership where a
major fraction of the respondents focused on quality of awareness campaign and funding as major
challenged for the Next Generation Leaders.
Internet for all or open standards has been a global voice but failing to mitigate the issue has created
layers where internet dynamic are creating variable limitation and difference. There has been subjective

efforts towards mitigating the problem but with limitation of expertise and lack of intervention at the
grassroots level youths are bound to suffer the consequence.
Recommendations:
The recommendation are listed below
1. There should be effective Youth awareness campaigns launched according to region
2. Youth issues and youth leadership are different things which needs strategic approach
3. In context of youth Developed and developing nation’s issues are different
4. Diversity is a must where more fellowship and exchange program should be introduced
5. Collaboration is the key for any successful leadership so Next generation leadership needs
better integration and exposure
6. The internet organization need to prioritize the issues of youth gaps
7. More networking and communication for youth interventions needs to be promulgated
8. IG initiatives at grassroots level need to be facilitated with coaching and mentoring programs
9. Fellowship needs definite leadership and interventions activities facilitating and motivating
youth fellows and leaders
10. There needs to be youth policy to be created for next generation and their adaptation
11. More focus funding and collaboration from all sides to empower youths and leaders
