What is a Web Browser?
In simple Words a web browser is a
program used to
Interpret and view HTML documents.
OR
A web browser is a software
application for retrieving, presenting,
and traversing information resources
on the World Wide Web.
6. INTRODUCTION
A Web browser acts as an interface between the
user and Web server
Software application that resides on a
computer and is used to locate and display
Web pages.
Web user access information from web servers,
through a client program called browser.
A web browser is a software application for
retrieving, presenting, and traversing
information resources on the World Wide
Web
7. FEATURES
All major web browsers allow the user to open
multiple information resources at the same time,
either in different browser windows or in
different tabs of the same window
A refresh and stop buttons for refreshing and
stopping the loading of current documents
Home button that gets you to your home page
Major browsers also include pop-up blockers to
prevent unwanted windows from "popping up“
without the user's consent.
9. The browser main functionality is to present the web
resource you choose, by requesting it from the server and
displaying it on the browser window.
The resource is usually an HTML document, but may also
be a PDF, image, or other type.
The location of the resource is specified by the user using a
URI (Uniform resource Identifier).
As You Write URL and hit GO button browser program
sends a request (Could I have the web page please?) to a
web server program running on the remote computer.
The server program, gathers the request from the web
browser, tries to hunt for the web page and then
formulates a response.
How Browser Work?
10. If server was able to locate the web page, it sends the
HTML file to the web browser.
The browser picks up all the information coming in from
the server and does its best to display the web page.
A typical web page not only has text but also images and
these are separate files that need to be transferred from
the server to the browser.
The browser-server communication goes on till all the files
have been transferred to the browser.
After that Browser-server connection is disconnected and
Web Page is Displayed on the browser window.
