What is organizational
behavior (OB) ?
A field of study that investigates the impact
individuals, groups, and structure have on
behavior within organizations, for the purpose of
applying such knowledge toward improving an
organization’s effectiveness.
OB is the study of what people do in an
organization and the way their behavior affects
the organization’s performance
 Behavior is not random
 Behavior is generally predictable
 we can identify fundamental
consistencies underlying the behavior
of all individuals and modify them to
reflect individual differences.
 systematic study of behavior is a
means to making reasonably accurate
predictions.
 By term systematic study, we mean looking at
relationships, attempting to attribute causes and
effects, and basing our conclusions on scientific
evidence—that is, on data gathered under
controlled conditions and measured and
interpreted in a rigorous manner.

What is organizational behavior

What is organizational behavior (OB) ? A field of study that investigates the impact individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness. OB is the study of what people do in an organization and the way their behavior affects the organization’s performance
