What is Childhood Obesity?
Childhood obesity is when a child is significantly overweight for
his/her age and height

▪ Family History

Fat Shaming
▪ Fat shaming unmotivates the person
more
▪ It can lead to more mental issues such
as depression or risk of suicide
▪ 62% of the overweight kids have been
bullied
▪ Girls tend to get more fat and body
shamed than boys

How the Food Industry has been effecting
childhood obesity?
▪ Over one-third of children and
adolescents are consuming
fast food on any given day
▪ Fast food intake is high among
families with low income
▪ Much of the processed foods
have high calories which are
bad for the health

Are there any affects if a child loses weight
before adulthood?
▪ Lower chance for health problems in the future
compared to ones that don't lose weight
▪ They usually are more cautious of their weight and
health in the future
▪ Still are more likely to have health issues than adults
that never had obesity

What to do?
▪ Increase physical activty
▪ Educate your children
▪ Home-cooked meals
▪ Teach control
▪ Cut down screen time
