A manual selection of the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) to be used on a mobile device is possible through the respective user interface. Furthermore, mobile devices can be adjusted to select automatically the MNO based on the strongest signal strength, among the list of those MNOs the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is allowed to be registered with. However, so far in modern mobile operating systems, such as Android and iOS, there is no available method in the public developer’s Application Programming Interface (API), which allows for an automatic and on-demand selection of the MNO by third- party applications. Recently, various research approaches assume the existence of an automatic and on-demand MNO selection mechanism to achieve different goals, such as breaking the termination rates monopoly (AbaCUS) or minimizing the non-ionizing radiation of mobile/wearable devices. The interest of such a mechanism has been raised three years ago by the Android developers community. Thus, this work here presents an automatic and on-demand MNO selection mechanism, that has been designed and implemented on the Android platform. For evaluation purposes the energy and end-to-end (e2e) time consumption while switching among MNOs using this mechanism is evaluated and as an applied example the data consumption of AbaCUS signaling messages is measured.

Michael Seufert, Karl Lorey, Matthias Hirth, Tobias Hoßfeld Gamification Framework for Personalized Surveys on Relationships in Online Social Networks. 1st International Workshop on Crowdsourcing and Gamification in the Cloud (CGCloud), Dresden, Germany, December 2013. Abstract: The estimation of psychological properties of relationships (e.g., popularity, influence, or trust) only from objective data in online social networks (OSNs) is a rather vague approach. A subjective assessment produces more accurate results, but it requires very complex and cumbersome surveys. The key contribution of this paper is a framework for personalized surveys on relationships in OSNs which follows a gamification approach. A game was developed and integrated into Facebook as an app, which makes it possible to obtain subjective ratings of users' relationships and objective data about the users, their interactions, and their social network. The combination of both subjective and objective data facilitates a deeper understanding of the psychological properties of relationships in OSNs, and lays the foundations for future research of subjective aspects within OSNs.

The workshop addressed questions evolving around the interplay between social and technical systems, and bridged the gap from social sciences to computer sciences. The workshop talks gave an overview on different aspects of interactions between humans and IT-systems, and highlighted the need for a combination of social sciences and computer science in this field. The workshop showed that it is possible and sometimes necessary to integrate social studies into the design and application of IT-systems. Tobias Hoßfeld, Michael Seufert, Christian Sieber, Thomas Zinner Assessing Effect Sizes of Influence Factors Towards a QoE Model for HTTP Adaptive Streaming. 6th International Workshop on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX), Singapore, September 2014. Abstract: HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS) is employed by more and more video streaming services in the Internet. It allows to adapt the downloaded video quality to the current network conditions, and thus, avoids stalling (i.e., playback interruptions) to the greatest possible extend. The adaptation of video streams is done by switching between different quality representation levels, which influences the user perceived quality of the video stream. In this work, the influence of several adaptation parameters, namely, switch amplitude (i.e., quality level difference), switching frequency, and recency effects, on Quality of Experience (QoE) is investigated. Therefore, crowdsourcing experiments were conducted in order to collect subjective ratings for different adaptation-related test conditions. The results of these subjective studies indicate the influence of the adaptation parameters, and based on these findings a simplified QoE model for HAS is presented, which only relies on the switch amplitude and the playback time of each layer.

Hence a technical method to secure, monitor, manage and supports mobile devices deployed across mobile operators, service providers and enterprises is need of the hour which has led to the development of Mobile Device Management(MDM).

In this paper we have studied several works on direct network architectures which are well-built contestant for useful in many successful cost-effective, experimental massive parallel computers and well scale up shared memory of multiprocessors. The uniqueness of direct networks, as reflected by the communication latency and routing latency metrics are significant to the performance of such systems. A multiprocessor system can be used for the wormhole routing for the most capable switching method and has been adopted in several new massive parallel computers. This technique is unique technical challenges in routing and flow control in particular system, and avoid deadlock. The highly scale up network is a combination of topology and hypercube. Due to the being of concurrent multiple mesh and hypercubes, this network provides a great architectural support for parallel processing. The growth of the network is more efficient in terms of communication, interconnection network is scaled up the network and will be more reliable and also the unreliability of the interconnection network to get minimized. This is very desirable characteristic for the interconnection network as the network remains equipped for more failure of adjoining nodes or links in parallel computer architecture. Formulations to optimize the performance of throughput of networks through queuing theory M\M\1 concept.

Literature Review: Convey the Data in Massive Parallel Computing

Broadcasting forensic is the practice of using scientific methods and techniques to analyse and authenticate Multimedia content. Over the past decade, consumer grade imaging sensors have become increasingly prevalent, generating vast quantities of images and videos that are used for various public and private communication purposes. Such applications include publicity, advocacy, disinformation, and deception, among others. This paper aims to develop tools that can extract knowledge from these visuals and comprehend their provenance. However, many images and videos undergo modification and manipulation before public release, which can misrepresent the facts and deceive viewers. To address this issue, we propose a set of forensics and counter forensic techniques that can help establish the authenticity and integrity of Multimedia content. Additionally, we suggest ways to modify the content intentionally to mislead potential adversaries. Our proposed tools are evaluated using publicly available datasets and independently organized challenges. Our results show that the forensics and counter forensic techniques can accurately identify manipulated content and can help restore the original image or video. Furthermore, in this paper demonstrate that the modified content can successfully deceive potential adversaries while remaining undetected by state of the art forensic methods. To ensure the actual presence of a real legitimate trait in contrast to a fake self-manufactured synthetic or reconstructed sample is a significant problem in biometric authentication, which requires the development of new and efficient protection measures. To enhance the security of biometric recognition frameworks, by adding liveness assessment in a fast, user-friendly, and non-intrusive manner, through the use of image quality assessment. The proposed approach presents a very low degree of complexity, which makes it suitable for real-time applications, using 25 general image quality features extracted from one image (i.e., the same acquired for authentication purposes) to distinguish between legitimate and impostor samples. Multi-biometric and Multi-attack protection method which targets to overcome part of these limitations through the use of Image Quality Assessment (IQA). Moreover, being software-based, it presents the usual advantages of this type of approaches: fast, as it only needs one image (i.e., the same sample acquired for biometric recognition) to detect whether it is real or fake, non-intrusive; user-friendly (transparent to the user), cheap and easy to embed in already functional systems and no hardware is required).

In recent years, Source printer identification has become increasingly important for detecting forged documents. A printer's distinguishing feature is its fingerprints. Each printer has a unique collection of fingerprints on every printed page. A model for identifying the source printer and classifying the questioned document into one of the printer classes is provided by source printer identification. A paper proposes a new approach that trains three different approaches on the dataset to choose the more accurate model for determining the printer's source. In the first, some pre-trained models are used as feature extractors, and support vector machine (SVM) is used to classify the generated features. In the second, we construct a two-dimensional convolutional neural network (2D-CNN) to address the source printer identification (SPI) problem. Instead of SoftMax, 2D-CNN is employed for feature extractors and SVM as a classifier. This approach obtains 93.75% 98.5% accuracy for 2D-CNN-SVM in the experiments. The SVM classifier enhanced the 2D-CNN accuracy by roughly 5% over the initial configuration. Finally, we adjusted 13 already-pre-trained CNN architectures using the dataset. Among the 13 pre-trained CNN models, DarkNet-19 has the greatest accuracy of 99.2 %. On the same dataset, the suggested approaches achieve well in terms of classification accuracy than the other recently released algorithms.

The increasing use of smart devices results in a huge amount of data, which raises concerns about personal data, including health data and financial data. This data circulates on the network and can encounter network traffic at any time. This traffic can either be normal traffic or an intrusion created by hackers with the aim of injecting abnormal traffic into the network. Firewalls and traditional intrusion detection systems detect attacks based on signature patterns. However, this is not sufficient to detect advanced or unknown attacks. To detect different types of unknown attacks, the use of intelligent techniques is essential. In this paper, we analyse some machine learning techniques proposed in recent years. In this study, several classifications were made to detect anomalous behaviour in network traffic. The models were built and evaluated based on the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity-intrusion detection systems dataset released in 2017 (CIC-IDS-2017), which includes both current and historical attacks. The experiments were conducted using decision tree, random forest, logistic regression, gaussian naïve bayes, adaptive boosting, and their ensemble approach. The models were evaluated using various evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, false positive rate, receiver operating characteristic curve, and calibration curve.
