whichtreatstheairwhiletheotherisbeingregenerated.
Thecompressedair,nowdryandfreefromimpurity,enterstheHEAT
EXCHANGER(3)anddividesintotwostreams.streamApassesthroughthe
EXPANDER(4)whereitlosesenergyandiscooled.Itreturnsthroughtheother
passoftheheatexchangertocoolandliquefyairstreamB.
Theliquidair,onleavingtheheatexchenger,isexpandedthroughavalveintothe
COLUMN(5)whereitisfractionated.Nitrogenvapourispurified.Thisnitrogenis
thenliquefiedintheCONDENSER(6),therefrigerationforthisbeingprovidedby
enrichedliquidairtakenfromthecolumnbase.
Thisliquidnitrogenisthendispensedintoasuitablevesselforuse.
