Navneet Panda. Google launched Panda update in the mid of 12th
August, 2011 world wide.
With the release of Google panda algorithm, one of the most
adorable animals has been turned into a major headache for search
engine marketers.
The 1st panda update went into effect on 24 February, 2011.
The main aim of this update was reducing ranking for “low-quality
websites” while increasing ranking for “quality websites”.
3. Google Engineer came up with questions.
Sent questions to human quality testers who rated sites.
Rated based on quality, design, trustworthiness, speed, and
whether or not they would return to site.
Google came up with definition of “low quality”.
Launched Personal Chrome Site Blocker extension earlier.
Allowed users to specify sites they want blocked from search
results.
Compared data from both sources (Raters and Chrome Blocker), and
had 84 percent overlap, indicating on right track.
Came up with Classifier to indicate Low Quality vs. High Quality
Sites, to be used mathematically in Google Panda.

any duplicate content it should be removed or improved.
No keyword stuffing. Keyword density should not be more than 3-
4%.

quality & relevant websites.
You can also consider other ways like social media to bring traffic to
your website. This will ensure you that your site still has traffic in
case it is affected by panda update.

9. The EMD Update — for “Exact Match Domain” — is a filter
Google announced in September 2012 but launched on 4 Oct 2012
to prevent poor quality sites from ranking well simply because they
had words that match search terms in their domain names.
When a fresh EMD Update happens, sites that have improved their
content may regain good rankings.
New sites with poor content — or those previously missed by EMD
— may get caught. In addition, “false positives” may get released.
10. Its Google’s biggest update in 12 years.
It was the first Google Update for Visitors
Hummingbird Revamps Google Search to Better Support
Conversational Search.
Improved accuracy for long tail queries like Keywords phrase.
Greater emphasis on the Knowledge Graph.
Sets the stage for increases in spoken mobile search.
11. Google wanted to change search from keyword to concepts.
Hummingbird doesn't find the best match for the keyword, it finds
the best answer to the question.
What Does this Mean for SEO?
Links, Page Rank and duplicate content factors still matter but
content is king (and Google really means that this time)
Where is Google Going Next?
Expect Google to focus on semantic metadata and knowledge graphs
as well as mobile optimization.
12. Humming bird is Live Now
But quality sites should not expect to notice any drops in traffic –
Humming bird won't be penalizing sites with good content.
What Now?
Focus on tutorials, how to guide, reviews and other answers.
Leave keyword stuffing to the spammers. It doesn't work.
