A Work For The Last Days
1. 15 And he said unto
them, Go ye into all the
world, and preach the
gospel to the whole
creation.16 He that
believeth and is baptized
shall be saved… 18 they
shall take up serpents,
and if they drink any
deadly thing, it shall in
no wise hurt them; they
shall lay hands on the
sick, and they shall
recover.
Scripture
Reading:
Mark 16:15,16,18
3. The Great Commission
The words of our Lord Jesus Christ are very clear to what He has
commanded us to do
Go out to the world, but in 4 different ways:
1. Is to preach of the coming kingdom. (Mark
16:15)
2. Making disciples (Matthew 28:19)
3. To baptize people in name of the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)
4. And to lay hands on the sick, to help them
recover, in other words to heal. (Mark 16:18)
4. A Very Peculiar Message
As Adventists we have always had very peculiar, very special messages since 1844 and since the establishment of the church in 1863.
The message we have always had is:
The Three Angels Message, which consist of:
The Sabbath Truth
The Sanctuary
The 2nd Coming of Christ
Dress Reform
Music
Health Reform
ETC.
5. The Motivation
2 Timothy 4:7 “7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;”
We are in a fight, but we are on the good side of the fight, and we keep the faith but what faith? Revelation 14:12 - “12 Here is the
patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
We are in a constant spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:12), but we will suffer through persecution and tribulation (Matthew 24:9)
When we go out to tell the people of the coming kingdom, we are acyually hastening the second coming of Jesus.
Matthew 24:14 “14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end
will come.”
We as followers of Christ, we want the kingdom to come already, we do not want to delay the coming.
God does give warning of those that want delay and the unfaithful (Numbers 14:33)
6. “God had committed to His people a work to be
accomplished on earth. The third angel's message was to be
given, the minds of believers were to be directed to the
heavenly sanctuary, where Christ had entered to make
atonement for His people. The Sabbath reform was to be
carried forward. The breach in the law of God must be made
up. The message must be proclaimed with a loud voice, that
all the inhabitants of earth might receive the warning. The
people of God must purify their souls through obedience to
the truth, and be prepared to stand without fault before Him
at His coming...
7. “Had Adventists, after the great disappointment in 1844, held
fast their faith, and followed on unitedly in the opening
providence of God, receiving the message of the third angel
and in the power of the Holy Spirit proclaiming it to the
world, they would have seen the salvation of God, the Lord
would have wrought mightily with their efforts, the work
would have been completed, and Christ would have come ere
this to receive His people to their reward...
8. “But in the period of doubt and uncertainty that followed the
disappointment, many of the advent believers yielded their
faith. Dissensions and divisions came in. The majority
opposed with voice and pen the few who, following in the
providence of God, received the Sabbath reform and began to
proclaim the third angel's message. Many who should have
devoted their time and talents to the one purpose of sounding
warning to the world, were absorbed in opposing the Sabbath
truth, and in turn, the labor of its advocates was necessarily
spent in answering these opponents and defending the truth.
Thus the work was hindered, and the world was left in
darkness. Had the whole Adventist body united upon the
commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, how widely
different would have been our history!
9. “It was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should
be thus delayed. God did not design that His people, Israel,
should wander forty years in the wilderness. He promised to
lead them directly to the land of Canaan, and establish them
there a holy, healthy, happy people. But those to whom it
was first preached, went not in ‘because of unbelief’ (Heb.
3:19). Their hearts were filled with murmuring, rebellion, and
hatred, and He could not fulfill His covenant with them...
10. “For forty years did unbelief, murmuring, and rebellion shut
out ancient Israel from the land of Canaan. The same sins
have delayed the entrance of modern Israel into the heavenly
Canaan. In neither case were the promises of God at fault. It
is the unbelief, the worldliness, unconsecration, and strife
among the Lord's professed people that have kept us in this
world of sin and sorrow so many years”
(Selected Messages, book 1, pp. 67-69).
11. An Example From Jesus
Matthew 4:23 - “23 And Jesus went about all Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of
sickness and all manner of disease among the
people.”

12. The ice-breaker when doing the work
Keep in mind this note! Yes, many people need to know about Jesus Christ, they really need to
know of the things to come, but remember that many will reject as soon as you mention Jesus,
the Gospel, the Bible, or sharing your faith to others (other call it “religion”), that is why the
health message is the ice-breaker when trying to witness to people.
Study these books but Ellen White:Ministry of Healing, Counsels on Diets and Foods, Counsels
on Health, Medical Ministry. (Keep in mind as well that Ellen White was ahead of her time
when she had the vision of the Health Message, and today many doctors and scientist have
confirmed to have proven her writings as truth.)
Also study the Book of Daniel chapters 1-6, it is all about health and healing.
13. Health Message
As for our health message, this message is the opening for introducing to people bible studies,
because our health message has 4 compartments that relate to us.
1. Physically
2. Mentally
3. Emotionally
4. Spiritually
You can even help people by giving them a massage, hydrotherapy treatment, for these are
again ice-breakers to introduce the gospel.
15. After the ice-breaker
Okay, now you got past the easy area, now the difficult part of doing the work of a
missionary is to see that after learning about health and after realizing that health is
connected to a religious and spiritual life, it is to now give them the opportunity to give
them Bible studies.
16. F.O.R.T
When doing the work of a missionary there is a very useful help called F.O.R.T
Family
Occupation
Religion
Testimony
17. Family
Family – This is the first thing that is easiest to talk to people about. People are at ease talking about themselves or
their family. Make sure to learn the person’s name and use it! Someone has said that the sweetest word in the human
language is the name of the person you are talking about. Talk to the person about himself and his family. He will
know that you are interested to learn about various interests that he has. Get them to tell you where they were born,
how many children they have, and where they live. This will relax them and divert their minds from the fear of you
and your mission. They will feel that you are truly interested in them. Ask questions such as:
1. How is your family doing? (look at pictures on the wall)
2. Do you have any children?
3. Are you originally from this area?
4. In what area were you raised?
18. Occupation
Occupation – Women will be most interested in talking about their husbands or children. If she works outside the
home, she will most likely want to talk about what she does. Men will be most interested in their jobs and hobbies.
Get him to talk to you about his occupation or what he does for recreation. He will warm up to telling you things that
he would not have thought of telling you a few minutes before. As questions such as:
1. What kind of work do you do?
2. How long have you worked there?
3. What type of work did you do? (retired or unemployed)
4. How do you like your job?
19. Religion
Religion – It is helpful to find out about a person’s religious background so you can help him in his spiritual growth.
You could ask, “Did you grow up in a Christian family?” or “Do you attend a church in the area?” These questions
allow the person to start where they are most comfortable, and it will give you a religious profile of the person. This
is very valuable information as you figure out if he/she is a church member, attends church, studies the Bible, etc.
This will help you adapt your approach to fit his spiritual needs. Ask questions such as:
1. What has been your religious background?
2. Have you been a (Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, etc.) all your life?
3. Do you attend church?
4. Which church do you attend?
5. Does your whole family attend together?
6. Are you spiritual or in some form of another religion by any chance?
20. Testimony
Testimony – You have the opportunity to build a bridge by which you can lead the person to begin thinking about the
message of salvation that you have come to share with him. You don’t want to preach or exhort, but you can witness to your
own relationship with Jesus Christ. This is NOT a time to share about the Sabbath or how you became an Adventist. It is a
time to share how you came to know CHRIST. Simply, you are to share what Christ has done for you, how He has delivered
you from sin, how He is your friend, etc. Try to fit your testimony to some felt need that the person with whom you have been
visiting has expressed. Show them, by sharing your own experience in Christ how He has been the answer to a similar
problem that you have had in your life. This will help the person want to know that same Savior who has helped you, and it
will create a feeling of kinship with you as he or she identifies with your problem and the solution you found in Jesus. Here’s
some suggestions on what to say:
1. My life before I accepted Christ was…
2. How I became a Christian…
3. My life since becoming a Christian…
4. I have recently been sharing with my friends some interesting Bible lessons that have meant much to me. May I share
them with you?
21. Literature Evangelism
Since in these last days that the ministerial lines will soon be over, it is now the work of the literature evangelist or
colporteur is on the works that will be useful in the last days along with the medical missionary work.
This work is a really good way of doing missionary work in your local neighbourhood, selling literature to people to
get it into their homes.
One of the best books by Ellen White to read on Literature evangelism are:
Colporteur Ministry
Manual for Canvassers (No longer in distribution, but you can get it on the EGW app)
Evangelism (Thought this book is used a lot for evangelism in general)
22. Recruits Called For - Night after night I
am standing before the people, bearing a very
positive testimony, and pleading with them to
be wide awake, and to take up the work of
circulating our literature.—(The Review and
Herald, April 20, 1905)
23. The canvassing field is in need of recruits. Those who
engage in this work in the spirit of the Master will find
entrance to the homes of those who need the truth. To
these they can tell the simple story of the cross, and God
will strengthen and bless them as they lead others to the
light. The righteousness of Christ goes before them, and
the glory of God is their rearward.—(The Review and
Herald, June 16, 1903)
24. Arise and Shine—The canvassing work should no longer be
neglected. Many times I have been shown that there should be a
more general interest in our canvassing work. The circulation of
our literature is one very important means of placing before men
and women the light that the Lord has committed to His church to
be given to the world. The books sold by our canvassers open to
many minds the unsearchable riches of Christ. In the service of God
there is work of many kinds to be performed.
25. In the service of the temple there werehewers of wood, as well as
priests of various orders bearing various degrees of responsibility.
Our church members are to arise and shine because their light has
come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon them. Let those who
know the truth arouse out of sleep, and make every effort to reach
the people where they are. The work of the Lord must no longer be
neglected by us, and made secondary to worldly interests. We have
no time to be idle or discouraged. The gospel is to be proclaimed to
all the world. The publications containing the light of present truth
are to go forth to all places....
26. Why are we not more wide-awake? Each worker may now
understand his special work, and receive strength to take hold of it
anew. Distinct and peculiar developments of the boundless glory of
God will bring tributary offerings of varied kinds to the feet of
Jesus. Every new disclosure of the Saviour's love turns the balance
for some soul in one direction or the other. The end of all things is
at hand. The men of the world are rushing on to their ruin. Their
schemes, their confederacies, are many. New devices will
continually be brought in to make of no effect the counsel of God.
Men are heaping up treasures of gold and silver to be consumed by
the fires of the last days.
(The Review and Herald, June 2, 1903)

31. Who is this special group
Revelation 7:1-4 - “And after these things I saw four angels
standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four
winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the
earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another
angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living
God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to
whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying,
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have
sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I
heard the number of them which were sealed: and there
were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of
all the tribes of the children of Israel.”
32. The special seal
According to the passage we read it clearly says that this group was
“sealed”, but what does is mean by seal?
Look at Revelation 13
The beast’s Mark is 666 but what else is it?
It is an act of worship, to the beast it force worship as the example of
Daniel 3
But Jehovah also has a seal, and that is how we worship Him.
33. What is a seal
In time of monarchies a seal would be a symbol or a signature
for a king, and a seal would have three descriptions.
The Seal:
1. Name
2. Title
3. Territory
Example:
1. Arthur
2. King
3. England
34. Revelation 14:6-7
“6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of
heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach
unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every
nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,7
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory
to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and
worship him that made heaven, and earth, and
the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
36. The fourth commandment alone of all the ten
contains the seal of the great Lawgiver, the
Creator of the heavens and the earth.--6T 350
(1900).
37. Exodus 20:8-11
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it
holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do
all thy work; 10 but the seventh day is a
sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou
shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son,
nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor
thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy
stranger that is within thy gates: 11 for in
six days Jehovah made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them is,
and rested the seventh day: wherefore
Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it.
38. Genesis 2:1-3
“And the heavens and the earth were
finished, and all the host of them. 2 And
on the seventh day God finished his
work which he had made; and he
rested on the seventh day from all his
work which he had made. 3 And God
blessed the seventh day, and hallowed
it; because that in it he rested from all
his work which God had created and
made.”
39. The Sabbath day is God’s seal
The sabbath is Jehovah’s seal! We see from different areas of
scripture that indeed the sabbath day is God’s seal, remember
even we worship God on the sabbath day!
SABBATH:
1. Jehovah
2. Creator
3. Made heaven, earth, sea, and all in
them, and also rested the seventh day.
40. The observance of the Lord's memorial, the
Sabbath instituted in Eden, the seventh-day
Sabbath, is the test of our loyalty to God.--Letter
94, 1900.
41. A mark is placed upon every one of God's
people, just as verily as a mark was placed over
the doors of the Hebrew dwellings to preserve
the people from the general ruin. God declares,
"I gave them My sabbaths, to be a sign between
Me and them, that they might know that I am the
Lord that sanctify them" [Eze. 20:12].--7BC 969
(1900).
42. Another thing about this seal
Revelation 14:1-5 - “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four
thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of
many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:3 And
they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn
that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.4 These are they which
were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.
These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.5 And in their mouth was
found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
43. Another thing about this seal
Revelation 14:1-5 - “And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four
thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of
many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 And
they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn
that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they which
were not defiled with women *(women symbolizing churches, could be false doctrines); for they are virgins
*(they stayed pure to the church). These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were
redeemed *(they are saved) from among men, being the firstfruits *(they have overcame sin throughout their
lives and became christ-like in character and actions) unto God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was
found no guile *(sly or slickness, to lie): for they are without fault before the throne of God.”
44. A song of worship
This song that the scripture in Revelation talk about is to the song of Moses, but this new
song being mentioned it is called the song of the Lamb.
This song is sung because the redeemed have escaped something, they overcame one thing
that completely ruins your relationship with God. It is sin that has been overcame.
Egypt was a place the Israelites needed to escape (Exd. 2:15) just like we need to stay
away from sin (2 Peter 1:4), Egypt enslaved the Children of Israel (Exd 1:8-14) as sin is to
enslave you (John 8:34), Pharaoh didn’t want to set the Israelites free (Exodus 5:2) as
Satan the father of lies doesn’t want to set you free (John 8:44), and Moses is who freed
the Israelites (Exd 5:1) as Jesus sets us free from sin (John 8:32; John 14:6; Romans 8:2)

48. Development of Christian Character
The work of a missionary is very beneficial to your health and also to your attitude.
No matter what people may say to us or no matter they look at us we are still to show them love.
We are the light to this world
Christ wants us to have a character like His. Christ became human to be our example to prove to other that
we can show love, to show that we can keep the commandments, and to prove to others that God does
exist.
And also once you have had your experience of the Missionary work, you can even train people to do the
work that has been done.
Look at Matthew 5
49. Christian life is more than many take it
to be. It does not consist wholly in gentleness,
patience, meekness, and kindliness. These
graces are essential; but there is need also of
courage, force, energy, and perseverance. The
path that Christ marks out is a narrow, self-
denying path. To enter that path and press on
through difficulties and discouragements
requires men who are more than weaklings.
50. Men of stamina are wanted, men who will
not wait to have their way smoothed and every
obstacle removed, men who will inspire with
fresh zeal the flagging efforts of dispirited
workers, men whose hearts are warm with
Christian love and whose hands are strong to do
their Master's work
(Ministry of Healing pg. 497)
51. 7 “And behold, I am coming quickly.
Blessed is he who heeds the words of
the prophecy of this book...12 Behold, I
am coming quickly, and My reward is
with Me, to render to every man
according to what he has done. 13 I am
the Alpha and the Omega, the first and
the last, the beginning and the end...16
I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify
to you these things for the churches. I
am the root and the descendant of
David, the bright morning star.”
Revelation 22:7,12,13,16
