The NHS activity and performance summary report for April and May 2019 showed that:
1) A&E performance improved with fewer patients waiting over 12 hours but more patients were waiting over 8 weeks for diagnostic services and over 14 weeks for therapy services.
2) The percentage of cancer patients starting treatment on time decreased on both cancer pathways and the number of patient referrals increased.
3) Delayed transfers of care and the number of patients waiting over 36 weeks for treatment also increased while ambulance response times met targets.

The percentage of red calls arriving at the
scene within 8 minutes in May 2019 was above
the 65% target but marginally down by 0.05
percentage points from 70.3% in April 2019.
