The Text and Font Style

When looking at this magazine and thinking
about what me and Emily would like to include
on our front cover, I definitely agree that the
mast head should be the main title on the page.
I also like how the colours on the page have a
house style of white and yellow. The colour
yellow makes important notices such as ‘Free
Giant Iron Man Poster’ stand out on the page.
This is something which me and Emily should
use for our front cover too.
Furthermore, they have made sure that they
have structured the most important text, for
example the mast head and then in a bigger
style then put the least important text in a
smaller style such as the plug information.
Doing this allows the page not too look over
loaded, and taking the audience s attention off
the main focus of the magazine. Again this is a
good idea for me and Emily to structure our
page and make it look organised.

The Picture

When looking at the picture, I like how the pictures
gives always a clue to the narrative. The character is in
his costume form and looks very ‘crazy’ and fictional.
Therefore the audience can instantly guess that this is a
fictional film.
Furthermore, form the bright colours, it could suggest
the audience that this is specifically targeted at children
because usually children like to see bright colours on
screen as this draws their attention and makes them
more interested in the film.
Lastly, I like how the picture give away the scenery
which is part of the film . I think having a location shot in
the background would be a good idea as it give the
audience an idea of what the film is going to be like
from the location shot. Furthermore, I believe we
should also make sure the audience are given a hint to
what the film could be about and make sure that is
obvious like this film poster has.

The plugs allow the audience to see what else is in the
magazine without drawing the attention too much
away from the main focus which in this case, Alice In
Wonderland. The actual magazine does not state the
actual films name, therefore giving evidence of
prominence as only ‘Welcome to Wonderland’ is stated.
Since our film will be brand new, our audience will not
know any phrases from the film so it will best if we do
not use this.
I would agree that me and Emily should also use plug
and pull quote's because it allows the magazine to show
that it has variety , for example the magazine is
advertising that it stars previews of Iron Man 2, Happy
Potter, Toy Story 3 etc. This is showing that the
magazine has variety as it not only displaying films
aimed at children like Toy Story 3 and Harry Potter, but
also Kick Ass and Inception. Therefore this is addressing
wide audience. This is what me and Emily will have to
look into when advertising some content within our
magazine.
The service stories are beneficial to have such as ‘Free
Giant Iron Man Poster’ as if the front cover or plug
attract an audience, then the magazine ahs the service
stories to reply on. This is also another technique which
could be useful when creating our magazine.
