Broadly, I am interested in feminist media studies of “geek” culture. Through examination of television, film, video games, comic books, and the tech industry, I explore how women and other marginalized groups navigate a cultural sphere that has historically been, and, in many ways, remains a male-centric world. Primarily, I am interested in issues of gender in the video game industry and gaming culture. I have experience teaching courses in media studies, public speaking, business communication, and the role of communication in social movements.
