Position Scope:
As a Planner/Scheduler I was responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes..I was
responsible to the Maintenance Manager for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling all resources to
conduct maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. In order to fulfill these
responsibilities in the most effective manner, I worked with Maintenance and Production Managers to manage work priority,
develop job plans, define parts and material, define crafts and skills and engage the proper resources to develop a safe,
effective and efficient work control plan. In addition my experience as a Millwright and Power Engineer provided the
equipment-related expertise and technical guidance on improving Preventive Maintenance activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Once a valid work request was submitted and the work requests were prioritized, planned and scheduled .Follow –up on
accuracy of the job plan for all planned (PM, Pdm and corrective) work was part of the process.. There focus was not day to
day but was to be proactive and to optimize workforce productivity and minimize plant downtime by managing work 2 weeks
to 1 month in advance. In performance of these duties I had the following responsibilities:
To contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operation planning. Ensure the area,
department or facility in which they are assigned receive professional maintenance service in a timely manner to
ensure high equipment availability and performance.
Review all planned work request from assigned area and determine validity and accuracy of information and
engage the appropriate resources to set a preliminary priority.
Reviewed work requests for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead times,
correct equipment identification, proper charge number (if applicable), proper authorization, and discuss details
with originator of the work order.
Identified work requiring engineering design and reviewed them with engineering.
.
Reviewed the work to be performed and determine the best way to accomplish the work. Then consulted with
Leads, Supervisors, Originator, Production Supervisors, and Stores as necessary.
Obtained and organized all information required for the crafts to perform the work: drawings, vendor manual,
supplemental instructional materials, special procedures, and other file material appropriate to the job..
Supplemented this information by preparing any additional sketches, drawings, diagrams, notes, or any
instructional material which would clarify the work to be performed.
Identified and secured all parts and material required to complete the work by providing stores a Bill of Material for
the work order and any special kitting instructions.
Worked with stores to manage spare part usage
Approached all work performed with safety as the highest priority
3. Provided job estimates based on craft or skills required and numbers required(contracted work)
Determined and identified any vendor or delivered service for the work order, such as contract vibration or x-ray
Provide total cost estimate for the job, labor material and outside services.
Manage the status of work control and backlog for work order submission to work order completion.
Verified all material, information , tools and labor are available prior to scheduling.
Worked with maintenance leads, supervisors and planners to determine resource availability and work to level
workforce.
Develop a preliminary workforce schedule by crew ensuring all skills and resource, availability are met.
Participated in scheduling meetings in order to finalize priority of work orders, best downtime windows and
required lead times.
Finalized schedules and communicated schedules to all resources, maintenance, production, stores and outside
services.
Issued work orders and job packets to supervisors and answer any questions.
Did follow up to ensure job packets are turned in with improvement comments.

I participated in bringing Neucel Specialty Pulp on line .Overhauling equipment that had been sitting uncared for several
years. I spent a good deal of time in the Power Plant repairing pumps, fans, and steam turbines. Getting Neucel Specialty Pulp
going was one of the most rewarding things I have been in on.
