This document provides an overview and analysis of the Book of Job from the Bible. It discusses how Job is presented as a righteous man who endures terrible suffering and loss, and how his three friends provide advice but also misunderstand his situation. The document notes how Job questions God about his afflictions and wrestles with maintaining his faith. It also references how Job finds comfort in knowing that his Redeemer lives. The hymn "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" is presented, which echoes Job's belief that he will be resurrected despite his suffering.

Today we are talking about Job and how he blossomed in the deseret time of his life– we can learn a lot from him
A quick look at the book of Job itself –just wisdom literature not revealation– a professor at BYU called the book of Job the easiest book to read badly?
The first 2 verses tell the story and the last verse tells the conclusion but the 38 verses in the middle get
A little muddled—poetry not how we think of roses red violets blue
Let’s read a bit about what kind of person Job was– listen for 5 adjectives used to describe him
** that first one scares me alittle-perfect can sometimes mean complete, whole, mature
What does eschew mean=deliberately avoid
Haven’t we all heard the term “the patience of Job” NOWHERE is that word ever used in the scriptures to describe Job?
Let’s remind ourselves of all Job was put through– it can be split into 3 categories House&property, mind/spirit and physical body
What can you relate to on this chart?
Just this week my three boys all went rafting
Did Job endure his trails well? Patience is not just endureing it is enduring it well—Uctdorf
Crying; complaining? Stressed?
I heard a great talk once that has stuck with me and helped me through so many afflictions
3 T’s of afflictions– the key to it is understanding where it comes from
Think about afflictions you are having Where is it coming from? Are you learning? Overcoming? forgiving>?
How has the Lord blessed you for enduring trials well? Temporally, spiritually?
Great quote from Joseph Smith describing his afflicitons
At the beginning of our lesson I was playing I know that My redeemer lives; did you know the only time that is found in the scriptures is here in Job; that famous phrase was coined by him– I think that says a lot about Job enduring it well-- let’s read it in Job 19:25
I’ve asked Sister POULSON AND Sister Turner to LEAD us in theses 4 verses
Like Job I know that my redeemer lives and that all this shall be for our good in the end. I say that in his name AMEN
