The October 2015 issue of Best Artist Rep Magazine will focus on unsigned urban artists who have
street stories to tell. Most people agree, the best story to tell is the one where something positive is
learned. Thug Music is not about glorifying negativity, its about revealing truth from the perspective of
the ghetto. Each of us has a story to tell and we all need to be at a minimum, heard and felt, in order to
discuss, learn, understand and even heal. I myself can testify that I got into a bit of trouble growing up.
For 14 years I grew up in Harvey Illinois, in the South Suburbs of Chicago. I lived in a community that
demanded that you affiliate with one gang or the other. I remember how as kids we looked at the gang
as a source of friendship, protection and even income. However, as we got older we realized this
friendship also demanded occasional bouts of dangerous fighting, law breaking and some people even
got murdered. But in retrospect, it was simply a way of life for people who lived on our side of town.
The current THUG was created through harsh socioeconomic conditions including Poverty, Drugs,
Incarceration and Alienation. This becomes a fertile environment for EVIL to run rampant. I’m not
talking about the kids in the distant gated community who drive all the way across town to hang in the
hood to look cool. I’m talking about the human beings who feel they need to be Predators in a situation
in order to survive. The reaction to this pressure is just like any other mammal. When put in a cage, or
deprived of food, or put in danger, as humans we react with an Animal instinct! This instinct if left
unchecked, will cause people to -do things that seem unthinkable, in order to “what they perceive to
mean” survive. This issue is about the stories and the descriptions of events that follow. My personal
recommendation, according to the way that I was raised, is that all people in all situations should seek
spiritual help from Jesus Christ in Heaven. I have seen many Gangsters turn around and change
miraculously after being saved from Death by divine intervention. The Jesus Piece on a Phat Gold
Chain is already a central theme in Hip-Hop. Have you ever wondered why? It is because at the heart
of all human beings, is a need to feel Protected from Evil.

David Lee Taylor Jr born (July 21 1988), better known by his stage name DJArmstrong, and also known by
his alter ego Strong, he is an American rapper, songwriter, and producer. Strong, was born in Holiday
Heights, out of South Memphis, TN. He was raised by his parents and was a drug dealer as a teenager.
Strong explained the origin of his nickname DJ Armstrong, saying, "We were the first to bring the strong to our

originally formed as a family oriented Group, which consisted of family members C-groove, Don P, Rob D and JP. Later on

Michael Moore, also known by stage alias Mike Mo, was born in Los Angeles, California in 1990 on July 15th. When he was 3
months old, he and his mother moved to the Southwest side of Houston, Texas where freedom was abundant; but problems al-
ways stood near. His hardworking single mother tried to create a comfortable home life for him, but it was not as well as it
seemed. The strain of constantly moving, alcohol, drugs, fights, and the thought of not knowing his biological father led Mike to
find security in the streets.
By the sixth grade, he was in a local clique called K.I.G (Keepin It Gangsta), but when he entered ninth grade he transitioned his
mindset to a gang banging mentality, which later led to his initiation and participation as a Blood. At the age of 14, he represented
well for his set, but had developed an interest in football that seemed to keep him out of trouble and in positive environments.
Because of his desire for community and belonging, Football didn’t rescue him from the streets completely, so he returned to the
lifestyle that he knew.
Financial unrest uprooted Mike and his mother to his mother’s hometown Kansas City, Missouri, where he began a new life
amongst family he had never met. As he began adjusting to a new living arrangement, he soon realized he would not return to
Houston to live the life he thought was for him. This was a defining moment in his life that when asked about the experience, he
responded: “ When I moved to KC, they didn’t gangbang like we banged in the SWAT ya feel me; so all that bangin slowed down
a lot, and I was more focused on sports, then all of sudden, I started messing around with music, and haven’t left it alone since.”
Mike started his sophomore year of high school at Hickman Mills Senior High. He graduated in 2008 with four scholarships to play
football, but had a splurging passion for music, because it served as an emotional outlet. Because of his passion for music, he
turned down the scholarships to play football to pursue his passion for music. He later married his high school sweetheart on
April 14, 2009, and moved to Atlanta soon after to pursue a new life with his wife and Hip-Hop dream. On August 4th, 2009, a
baby girl was born to the Moore’s, giving Mike another rush of motivation. Now, serving faithfully in his church, Christ Temple of
Atlanta, with a mindset determined for success, he is enhancing his creativity by producing music from his soul that is relatable and

Digs is the formation of 2 Fresno, CA raised artists, Future Class and Lucky Desperado. These two artists
have been solo artists for years and decided to come together for a couple of features on 2 Future Class

Denzel scott aka Boogz Stone was born Deember 9th
, 1991 and was known as a
musically gifted child. He started rapping at the age of 5 and was able to remem-
ber songs. Boogz mother used to write raps for him and his brothers and they
would perform them at local talent shows in New York. At the age of 13 Boogz
began writing for himself and other artists. He was still performing at talent shows
and he soon created a group called Double0Musik, with members in Harlem. San
Diego, Brooklyn and Compton. Life some inner city teens Boogz drifted into gang
life and started finding himself in trouble. Leaving his mother’s house at the age
of 17 and getting locked up weren’t his best years, but Boogz definitely learned
how hard it is in the real world. He stopped gang banging and focused on music
and it saved his life.
