it now or anytime in my life.
All these thoughts are “low level” thoughts. They dictate what

“Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you,

Why did Abraham Lincoln said, “...in the end you will succeed”?
He could have said that for one reason: he wanted people to
continue on their journey and not quit. And when they continue,
“in the end (after the discouragement period is over, which can’t
stand against a persevering man or woman) if you still continue
taking action, you will succeed.
Why did he warn people not to quit?
Because many do. Most do actually. And only a few carry on in
the middle of heavy discouragements. Success principles and
approaches haven’t changed in the centuries and so are the
failure principles, and quitting is one such principle. People
always fall prey to discouragement. They always quit when the
going gets tough.
Your failures can discourage you, or maybe your current level of
competency in a field can discourage you, or what you lack now
in a particular area of your life can discourage you.
The solution is to become “discouragement-bounce-backer.”
Make it a point that whenever you are discouraged you may take
a short respite if you want, but you would never quit; That you
will never become a prey, like the 95% of people, to your
discouragements.
The only solution to discouragement is to become deaf and
become numb to it. Successful people are never carried away by
their discouragements. They will get hurt by them, but they can
never be stopped. You become like them, not some day, but from

Principle 3
“A goal is a dream with a deadline.”

Now, this is a very important one. But before sharing this, I am
sure most you have heard about goals and dreams.
Many people, as they are saturated by these concepts, see these
as everyday things or pretty less effective tools. They are not.
Chances are those who think this way haven’t applied them to
such a great degree as to reap the real rewards of achieving time-
oriented goals.
Some say that when they have goals, they feel like living a
mechanical life. They explain their point by saying why not live
life “naturally.” Why not just smell the roses on the way and taste
the things in life! Who said having goals will not allow you to do
these?
Now, let me break a myth:
1. When you set goals, you are also going to set time for “leisure”
activities, daily! You are not sacrificing your relaxation and other
enjoyments, rather you are scheduling them to a proper time.
It’s not that people who have goals and achieve big things don’t
watch movies, play games, go shopping, have a nice time with
friends, or take a vacation, etc. They do (And some don’t I agree;)
Okay let me ask you a question?
Don’t you want to succeed? Many want to and for all of us “the
money” department is the most important area to set goals.
That means your number one goal must always be (unless you
are financially independent and don’t have to work to earn
money) to get sufficient money for you and your family. Now and
in the long run.
Now, where do you get the money? You earn it from your
profession or in your field.

That means, increasing your income in your field must be your
number one goal this month.
To do this, you must have a thriving business or you must be very
good at what you do. Period.
Experts are always paid well. If someone is not earning much,
then he or she must start the journey to become an expert in that
field (People complain that they don’t get enough. Market place
always pays you according to your expertise).
Now, here’s the catch:
To do this you must utilize your current time very well.
This is where goal-setting come into play. Without goals
and the process of setting goals and achieving them, you
will never have that sense of urgency, you will never
have that discipline, you will never take action and you
will always be distracted and tempted to do motley of
things.
Because time is limited, you can’t afford to take chances. You
must do only those high-return activities based on your goals,
every day.
But when you set goals and have become financially
independent, then you can change your number one priority
from money to health or spirituality or anything you wish to
have.
Time is involved and we all have limited time. We are not
zombies or vampires dear friend.
The good news is that when you set goals, and really take action
on the plans that you have formulated to realize your goals, you
will see tremendous progress, mark my words...tremendous
progress.
But you must stick to your goals and take action regularly on
your plans. If a plan doesn’t work, change it. Plans are always
there to be changed until they become excellent and start to
produce desired results.

Thomas Alva Edison’s incandescent lamp is a classic example of
this.
Any goal program is good as long as it asks you to take action on
your plans eventually. Many people only have dreams. Some
people have goals. A few have plans to make those goals a reality.
A still a very small percentage, very small indeed, work and sweat
on those plans day in and day out. Be the last one. Always set a
deadline.
Only three things can happen with achieving your goals:
1. You will either miss the mark, Just change it to a near future or
as per your feedback or knowledge you get from your experience
in order to attain your goal.
2. You will achieve your goal much sooner than you have set the
deadline.
3. You will achieve your goal exactly on the same date.
Simple goal-setting process is much better than a complex one.
In my opinion, it is always better to have two major goals at a
time than to have ten or fifteen goals in various areas of life.
I think that can affect the quality of your main goal when you
have a lot of goals and dream at a time. I would kindly
recommend that you have “money” (and so, your profession) as
your number one goal, if you are not financially independent yet.

The best way out is always through.

Yes, Robert Frost said it very well. You can hide from your fears.
You can, and that’s your choice. But, along with your choice
comes the equivalent results (rewards or lack of them).
If you choose to avoid things out of fear or our of lack of
confidence or by saying that you haven’t done it before, what you
are doing is that you are avoiding exposing yourself to many
more chances and choices in your life.
The more you face and get through, the more you grow dear
friend.
The more you avoid and escape from, the more your growth will
be curbed.
Growth equals how many things you face daringly and get
through. Try more, face more and grow more.
This cannot happen when you shy away from your challenges,
from your fears, etc. You must be ready to get through any
challenge, any damn kind on this planet, even if that can hurt
you, even if that can embarrass and humiliate you, even when are
you are stretched and go out of your comfort zone.
This is the mindset (one of many attitudes of successful people)
that I was sharing with you at the outset. When you have a strong
mind and an attitude like this, would you sit in a place and
expect things to turn out as if by magic?
No. You won’t. Since you will feel like a no-limit person (and you
are), you will start trying many things. You will visit places to get
that chance. You will enroll in that class right away regardless of
your age, you will phone that person and ask out, your will meet
with that client or customer as immediately as possible, etc.

So, the best way is “through.” Never, ever runaway from your
fears. Face them and feel them. For a time being it will hurt you.
But you will become stronger and you fears must become weaker.
That is the unwritten cardinal rule of success dear friend.
They say that many biggest dreams and dreamers are to be found
in graveyards. Why? People didn’t have the guts to face their
fears and follow their passion. Or at least overcome their
challenges.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,
is not an act but a habit.

This again is the very basic of success. Success is nothing but
deciding what you are going to do from now onwards...and also,
what you are not going to from now onwards as well.
Like I said in the beginning, your success depends on what you
do and keep doing.
And what you don’t do from a certain point.
Which means that start doing certain good things and you also
stop doing certain things that hold you back.
Normally you cultivate powerful habits (that of the successful
people in order to produce results like them). And you get rid of
bad habits (that of people who suffer from these habits and
produce not-so-nice results) of yours that hurt you and are
keeping you as a slave.
Everything boils down to HABITS.
What you do, what you think, how you look at your obstacles,
how bravely you confront your hurdles, how you think to come
up with a creative answer to your issues, etc. all these are part
and parcel of your everyday life.
Many time we don’t realize that we aren’t doing what we ought to
do. I know what you are thinking now. You may be confused
about how to select your daily habits. Right?
Now that you want to start certain things and stop certain things.
As far as the good habits are concerned just start on the plans
and action steps you take daily toward attaining your goals as
your daily habits. Do take these action steps consistently. You
don’t have to have 100 different good habits. That will scatter
your focus. Focus only on your main goals and let your habits be

formed based on your main, current goals, made up of only those
activities related to your primary goals.
As far as the bad habits are concerned, I would say getting rid of
habits that hurt your health (emotional, mental and physical) the
baddest at first.
It could be shyness. Or it could be smoking or drinking (and you
may be already affected by it to a great degree and can’t afford to
allow this any more, the red lights are on!). Or it could be
eliminating the habit of procrastination or eliminating the habit
of finding fault many times a day wherever you go with whoever
you are with. It could be being sad or negative to an incredible
level. It could be over-eating or not eating on time. It could be
talking too much and as a result, having a low level of focus on
tasks you do.
Or it could be your habit to try something for a brief time and
become bored about it, although you see that it can improve your
life drastically and all you have to do is to keep doing it for a long
time.
It could also be spending less time in gym.
Have your goal-related action steps as your primary habits.
Other habits could be good habits for your body like eating a
couple of apples a day. Or eating good, healthy food. It could be
starting to do power walk for about twenty five minutes. It could
be making plans related to your goals and thereby working your
creative muscles to develop them.
Or you can also become less sensitive and very well insulated
against the negativity from people around you. You become
emotionally strong. It could also be learning some new skills
toward the attainment of your goals.
Making a big list of habits will confuse you and will take you
away from your goal-attainment path, let me warn you. Just do
the goal-related habits and uproot the “critical-level, red light,
emergency, urgent” bad habits.

With a small list of do’s and dont’s for your daily life, your
success, whatever it is, will reach you many times faster than you
can expect it. You just need to start immediately.
What you just saw is the power of habits and power of focus by
elimination of bad habits. Maybe by eliminating a bad habit you
become more energetic physically, and some elimination can
make you mentally super fit, and getting rid of other habits can
get you more time! You can use that for your plans and their
execution.
By doing “only” your goal-related things, you soon become
excellent in that area. Maybe in your profession. That can pave
the way for riches in the department of money in your life.
Don’t waste you life or time on doing things that will never take
you toward your goal. Many of them will take you away from
your goals or slow down your success. That’s why elimination is
as important as addition. Without resistance you move ahead
very fast. Elimination of bad habits destroys the resistance to
your success.
