wall.
• The sheets can be fixed either to one side of the frame, or to both the
side.
• Such partition are economical, light weight and fairly strong.
• A better form of partition is made from patented slabs of asbestos
cement.
• One such form in which two plain sheets are attached to an inner
corrugated sheets, the sheets are jointed by cement mortar.
3. ADVANTAGES
• Asbestos is non-flammable even at very high temperatures and is extremely
flexible and durable
• It is fibrous and crystalline, elastic and brittle
• Newer garages that are part of the house can have asbestos sheet or fibro to
assist in hindering the spread of fire if a fire were to start in the garage.
• It has good heat and sound insulation properties.
• These walls are economical, light and fairly rigid if constructed properly.
4. DISADVANTAGE
• Products which contain asbestos can generate fibres when they are damaged,
disturbed, weathered or old: in these circumstances, fibres are released into the
atmosphere and asbestos exposure through respiration can occur.
• It is widely believed that exposure to asbestos contained in buildings presents a
relatively small risk.
• Sometime it need a molding process before applying it on desired place.
8. ASBESTOS SHEETS ARE JOINED WITH CEMENT MORTER WITH SOME
ADDITIVE ADMIXTURE
SOMETIME FOR ASTHETIC PURPOSE JOINTS ARE DONE BY
ALLUMINIUM PANNELS
9. RATE IN MARKET
• ASBESTOS are available in the market @ Rs. 16 - Rs. 60 per sq. m.
• These are widely available in the market in different form.
• Other material like cement mortar and plain sheets are readily available in affordable
and low budget
LIFE SPAN
• Typical life expectancy was given as 30 years.
• In good climate it may extend upto 50 years.
