Renowned architect Prabir MItra passed away on the 14th of October, 2018; and yet surprisingly there seems to be no media coverage whatsoever or internet visibility.

3. • Ar. Prabir Mitra has been one of the leading architects of Kolkata and
West Bengal for more than four decades.
• Prabir Mitra trained in architecture in England and Germany in 1960’s.
He specialized from the Marcel Brewer BAUHAUS School in Germany,
both in Architecture and Structure Engineering
4. • He became a member of The Royal Institute of British Architects and
worked in Hamburg, Germany as a group leader in a renowned
architectural firm. They were acclaimed and awarded for the famous
Hamburg Port & Dockyard Revitalization project.
5. • In 1967 he was awarded for the National Art Gallery, Munich design
competition, in which top ten architects of the world were invited.
• Ar. Mitra returned to India and started his independent practice.
6. • He received the JK Cements Architect of the Year Award in 1998 for
his landmark creation the Ffort Radisson at Raichak. His famous early
works in Kolkata include Saptaparni Apartments, Chloride Corporate
Office Building, VSNL Corporate Building, Food Court at Swabhumi
Heritage Plaza, IIMT Bengal (Hospitality Management Institute) and
IIT Kharagpur Academic Complex.
