5. Background of the Report
IUBAT introduce Educational Planning program ,which
is a perfect blend of the theoretical and practical
knowledge. By industrial project it provides a unique
opportunity to the students to see a business , which
enables building confidence and working knowledge.
We have Selected Fakir Knitwear Limited for our
Project purpose which is one of the leading Garments
Manufacturing Industry of Bangladesh .We have visited
Fakir Knitwear Limited on 7th November,2015 which is
located at Kayempur, Fatullah, Narayangonj.

10. About Fakir Knitwears Limited
Fakir Knitwears Limited is a comprehensive
manufacturing and exporting company of
Bangladesh. It has the ultra modern plants
related to garment industry, such as independent
knitting, dyeing, sewing, finishing and packaging
with sufficiently supportive backward linkage
facilities.
Nowadays, their products sell well all over the
world, such as America, Europe & East Asia.

Fakir Knitwears Limited manufactures and export
knitwear garments for men’s, ladies, children,
boys, girls, infant etc. They also produce
sportswear, maternity wears as well.
Their specific products include:
T-shirts · Pull over · Cardigans · Pajamas · Ladies
dresses · Polo shirts · Boxer shorts · Night wears
18. Garments Department
CAD Section
First stage in the production line is the pattern making
section. Their CAD division uses
1) Lectra Software
2) Euro CAD software
Cutting Section
The second stage in line is the cutting section. In this
section, materials are cut in the pattern determined and
designed in the previous section.
They have automated system for cutting the pattern.
Each machine has 30,000 PCS/ Day cutting capacity.
Cutting division has 5 units.
Cutting Capacity is 1,30000 pcs/day
19. Garments Department
Sewing Section
They have auto trimmers, Lock stitch Button
stitch, Chain stitch machines and Auto Button
Hole Machines.
They’re using world renowned production
planning software named ‘’ FASTREACT’’.
Sewing Machines: 2000 no’s
Sewing lines: 100 lines
20. Garments Department
Finishing Section:
At this stage products goes through various stages like
removal of loose thread, folding etc & hanged with
hanger & poly bag. Some finishing machineries are
needle detector, thread blowing, strain removing,
carton box striping etc.
23. Dyeing Division & Process
Batching:
Batching is the process to get ready the fabrics
which should be dyed .When the grey fabric
roll comes from the knitting section or other
source it is required to prepare the batch of
fabric for dyeing

Dyeing Section
After batching the next step is dying. Dyeing is the
process of coloration.
Total Dyeing Capacity: 50 Tons/Day

They have both Open and tubular fabric finishing line.
To have perfect finishing on fabric they are using world
class machine with most modern technology.
28. Lab Unit
Laboratory is an independent department. Because of maintaining
the quality standard.
Fakir Knitwears Ltd have four .
Production lab is to ensure adequate production.
Quality lab to ensure the best quality,
Dyeing Lab and the other one is
Yarn testing lab.
The main objective in knit lab is as follows:
To calculate the recipe for sample dyeing.
To compare dyed sample with swatch by light Box or spectra flash.
To calculate revise recipe for sample dyeing
Finally approved Lab Dip
32. Washing Plant
Washing plant that has a capacity of 40000 pcs garment
(Normal Wash) & Pigment washing 25,000 pcs garments per
day.
33. Embroidery Section
Fakir Knitwears Ltd. Has sophisticated computerized
embroidery unit. The embroidery unit is capable of
80 million stitches per day.
Total Production Capacity In Embroidery: 20,000
pcs/day
34. Printing Section
They are capable to print various types including flock, discharge,
emboss,sugar print and many special types of printing. They
can print 100000 pcs/day.

They are using their own power generator. They have
own power source and generating 24 hour power.

Taking steps for instance the establishment of ETP & WTP because nothing
is more important than the maintenance of pollution-free environment.
Fakir Knitwears Ltd. Establish an ETP plant which is the biggest and no.1
ETP plant in Bangladesh. Capacity of their ETP is 5000 m3
38. Quality Control
The QC team of FKL follows some international standards
such as 4-point Fabric Inspection System; Traffic Light
System; AQL 2.5; Needle Detection Report; 9-point Quality
Check System and many more.

39. Information Technology
FKL has 5 dedicated server.
Company is now Running ERP software which
is developed by the IT Dept with fully in house
facility.
40. Merchandising
Merchandising department is the heart of any textile,
because Merchandising is the only department having
maximum control over the departments and total
responsible for Profit and loss of the company.
The main objectives of their job description is 4R
Right Quantity: To supply right quantity of product
what buyer ordered.
Right Quality: To deliver right quality of product what
buyer ordered.
Right Cost: Everybody wants more from what they are
paid.
Right Time : Ensuring shipment within the right time as
per buyer’s order.
42. Some findings are given below:
Lack of co-ordination among different division of
the company.
Lack of employee in administrative department of
the company
Some recommendations are:-
The inter-departmental work should be smoothed
and there should be more cooperation between the
departments.
Should concentrate more on increasing worker skill
and efficiency.
44. Conclusion
Fakir Knitwear Ltd is the one of the popular
member in RMG family. They have started their
journey with lots of difficulties but now, they
have established themselves as the one of the
leading RMG company of our country. All the
departments are doing well to reach their goal.
The environment of the factory is really different
from other organizations. The environment is
very friendly and informal. If they keep their
current growth rate they will capture maximum
portion of RMG market of our country.
