  1. 1. Safe – Do not share personal information, email, phone numbers, OTP, address and passwords. Meeting – Never meet an unfamiliar person you have only met online. Don’t share your photos. Accepting – Do not open emails, texts and files from an unknown source, this can lead malware or virus. Reliable – Information on the internet is not always true. People post false details. Tell – Inform a parent or carer or a trusted friend/teacher if anything online makes you feel uncomfortable or worried or call 1930/ cybercrime.gov.in.
  2. 2. 1. Your current location: Firstly, never share your place online. When the user sends their position online, the user is putting themselves at risk. Many people are not aware that status or tweet may also expose their location on social media. So, always make sure that your privacy and location services are set up correctly.
  3. 3. 2. Confidential information about your identity: Secondly, never share personal information online. Personal details like full name, phone number, address, can all be used by potential identity thieves. Also, don’t share this information about family members too. So, don’t make it easy for the identity thieves by posting for the world to see. Hacker
  4. 4. 3. Financial information: The information like account numbers, OTP number, loans, and credit card information should not be revealed. It is generally safe to use online banking and make purchases with credit cards on reputable sites.
  5. 5. 4. Passwords: Some people are stupid enough to share their passwords. The user needs to be careful about any information even if they share their passwords with others. Make sure that you have a different password for each networking site. If one password is stolen, then other of the accounts will still be safe. Always use a strong password.
  6. 6. 5. Embarrassing statuses and photos you would not want to be shared with your family or employer: Remember that anything you share has the potential to be leaked in some manner. So, before you post online, ask yourself, “Would I want my Mom or Boss to see this?”. If the answer is No, then don’t post it. Generally, your instincts are correct. Always make sure that you are protecting your online reputation. Never share inappropriate information online.
  7. 7. 6. Private issues: Private and personal matters should never be shared online. If you are not comfortable with sharing the problem with your family and friends, never share it online.
  8. 8. Don’t be fooled by taking a loan through an online loan app. Please be careful on this… Contact 1930 in case of any cases/go to the website cybercrime.gov.in to complaint.
