A user forgets his or her password The user tries various combinations of old passwords and is locked out Eventually the user gives up and calls the helpdesk If possible, the helpdesk responds immediately but usually there is a backlog of requests to the helpdesk issues a “ticket” Common ratio for large companies – 1 helpdesk admin/6000 users! In the meantime, the user cannot access resources they need to perform their job – e.g. email, file shares, printers, etc... Eventually the helpdesk will close the ticket after resetting the user’s password – finally enabling them to work productively I Forgot My Password!
