WHEN BYING A ROBOT
1. Number of axis: defines the range of posible movement (3 – 6 axis)
2. Working envelope: a region of space a robot can reach
3. Kinematics: defines posible
movements depending on
arragement of parts
4. Carrying capacity: defines how
much weight can be lifted by a robot.
5. Speed: defines how fast can a robot position the end of it’s arm
6. Acceleration: defines how quickly an axis can accelerate.
7. Accuracy: defines how closely a robot can reach a commanded
position.
8. Repeatability: defines how well the robot will return to a
programmed position.

9. Motion control: defines the level of control required for some tasks.
10. Power source: Some robots use electric motors, some
use hydraulic actuators.
11. Drive: some robots connect electric motors to the joints
via gears; others connect the motor directly.
12. Compliance: defines an angle or distance at what
robot axis will move when a force is
applied to it.
