Solar-Assisted EV Charging Project
• In August 2009, ORNL was awarded $6.8 million for the
installation of solar-assisted EV charging stations in
Tennessee. This was part of a larger DOE grant to
Ecotality for the deployment of EV charging stations in
five states
• The grant to ORNL required a 50/50 cost share match
from regional partners. The majority of the cost share
has been, or will be met, by the State of Tennessee,
TVA, EPRI, and Nissan.
• The final part of the cost share match is the State of
Tennessee project.
• We have also enjoyed great partnerships and in-kind
support from the cities, distributors, and universities
with whom we have worked.
