2. INTRODUCTION
• Formatting refers to the organization and arrangement of a
document
• It is a pre-requisite for making your document attractive to a reader
• Formatting is important for two reasons:
Gives a consistent look to the document
Makes your document readable
3. WHAT ALL YOU CAN DO WHILE FORMATTING?
• With formatting tools in word, one can change the font and color of
the text
• You can make your text bold, underline it, or italicize for
emphasizing the text
• Amount of space can be changed between two lines in a text
• You can also change paragraph alignment, set paragraph tabs and
indents, create a bulleted list etc.
• Some formatting tips can help you format the document quickly
4. SETTING LINE SPACING
• You can easily set the spacing between two lines as follows:
For single-line spacing, click “Ctrl + 1”
For double-line spacing, click “Ctrl + 2”
For 1.5-line spacing, click “Ctrl + 5”
5. REMOVING ALL FORMATTING
• To remove disorganized
formatting in a document, select
the text and click the button as
shown in the screenshot
• Formatting will be removed and
you will be left with just plain text
6. CONFIGURING PASTE OPTIONS
• To customize the paste option,
click on the paste icon present
below the “File” (at the top left)
• From there, you can configure
your paste options as per your
requirement
• This will help you to do things like
disable hyperlinking when pasting
and other formatting options
7. INTERESTING SHORT-CUTS
Adding the Date
• To add the date in a document automatically, simply click
“Alt + Shift + D”
Double Underline
• If one line of underline isn't emphatic enough, you can double underline
the text by clicking “Ctrl + Shift + D”
