1. Q.1 In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. Our own website
Twitter feed
The navigation
bar at the top
of the page,
allows the
viewers to
view pages
easily.
3. Ed Sheeran The use of
the links to
various
social
networking
sites reflects
how this
website is
high in
profession
than ours .
They have
included photos
and contact
links along with
a ‘videos’ page,
which we have
also done on
our own music
video, which
shows the
similarities in
construction
from our own
website to a
professional
website .
As this is the
original artists
website, has a
twitter feed
located in the
centre of the
page. Which we
also have in our
own website.
Twitter
follow
button for
fan base.
4. The twitter feed is in the centre of the website
homepage. This shows that it is quite
significant. As it takes up a lot of space on the
page, further this targets the audience directly.
The Twitter feed allows Ed Sheeran to see his
fans comments and possibly to reply to some.
On our website we have also included a Twitter feed,
however our twitter feed on the bottom right hand
side, for fans of Andrew to look at if they would like
and our target audience. As Twitter is a big social
networking site this aims at our target audience and
allows our artist to become known to others that may
not know of him.
This shows that we have included the target audience
and this enhances the image of the artist. As Twitter is
worldwide and is a well known social network used by
celebrities and many people of different ages.
5. On the left hand side the use of having a news feed, allows fans and the public to always
be up to date with the artists events. On the right hand side is our own website with a
news feed, which we included to update fans and the public on Andrews performances
and what he has been doing with his time, by us having a news feed, it has given our
website a professional element and meets real website conventions.
6. We have included a gallery for our artist on our website, this is for fans
and to keep fans update on his latest The gallery indicates real media
conventions, as we are aiming to keep the fans and public up to date
with the artist. In order for the artist to be known we wanted to use
images to get people to be more interested.
7. The element of the
contact page, makes the
website appear
professional and this
allows companies who
would like to know about
the artist the opportunity
to speak to the artists
manger and team. By us
including a ‘contact’ page
we have met the real
media conventions
through our research and
media technologies.
8. This shows the dates of the ‘tours’ page this allows fans and the public to know when
the artist will be performing. Further by the use of the ‘Buy tickets’ button this allows
the public to have access to buying tickets easily, also this then gives the element of a
professional appearance. The real website page in comparison to our ‘Andrew
Manning’ tour page shows that we have used the same elements of real media
conventions.
9. Ben Howard official website
The official ‘Ben Howard’ website has very similar features to the home page of our artists home page. The
features are ‘news’ and dates to show when the news was updated. This then shows that we have used real
media conventions on our own website , making it look as professional as a real artists website.
10. The ‘Ben Howard’ website features a gallery page and our own
‘Andrew Manning’ website features a gallery. By including a
gallery in a website this shows the artists progress and allows
the public to see the artists style, in terms of clothing and
latest hair styles.
11. The use of having a page where fans and the public can buy tickets and view
the vital information of dates and venues of where the artist will be
performing, makes the website professional. Through the screen shots of
the real artists website ‘Ben Howard’ in comparison to our own artists
website ‘Andrew Manning’ we show that we have successfully shown real
media conventions and successfully enabled our audience to be involved
with the artist.
12. Digipak
The ‘Killers’ have used an
element of black and white
photos, and they have used bold
text to show the title of the band
which presents a clear view for
the audience. Further a barcode
is included, with the photos
they’ve used inside with the
song titles at the bottom of the
back cover. The images used are
very clear, giving it a professional
look.
13. Digipak
Our digipak meets
real media
conventions as we
have included a
front cover with a
clear heading of
the album name,
we have included
lyrics and we have
ensured that we
have put a barcode
on the back cover,
along with the
song titles. By
adding these
aspects to our
digipak, we have
met real media
conventions.
14. Digipak
The Kooks have made
sure that they have a
colour theme, which is
red black and white. We
also have chosen black
and white as our theme
for our digipak , this
shows that we have
thought about our
audience and we have
tried to make it
professional and clear,
therefore meeting
media conventions.
They have included
lyrics, which we have
also done in our own
digipak. They have
included song titles on
the back cover along
with an image.
15. Music Video
A real music video featuring Ed Sheeran.
Here the girl is in
the centre of the
crossing, with the
public surrounding
her. This presents
her vulnerability.
Further due to the
chosen crops, of
her hood which is
up and her blanket
held close to her.
Giving her a lost
look.
16. Here is an official video, the
background has been blurred out, with
the girl in a clear view. As this shows
that it done at night time, as the lights
of traffic and the streets are shown in
the background.
17. We used a blur focus
when our artist was
walking into the distance
for the end shot, this was
in Piccadilly circus, we
used the public as asset
for our artist top blend
in, this is similar to the
clip in the other video, as
we have used the lights
and taken advantage of
the lights of shops and
street lights to bring our
artist and narrative out.
This shows that we have
successfully used a
concept of a real media
convention in our own
music video.
18. Here we have edited a
part of our music video to
go from colour into black
and white. Here we have
used an effective editing
technique making it look
professional and capturing
our target audiences
attention, further this
shows our intended
narrative. This is to show
our artist in a vulnerable
light, in the city of London
which his unfamiliar with.
Here we have successfully
used our chosen location
along with a long shot, mid
shot and an extreme close
up to achieve our target.
19. Here our artist is walking
onto the train, here we
show how he is lost in the
city of London, by him
getting onto an
underground train, shows
that he is attempting to
familiarise himself with
the city, this links to the
lyrics of the song,
therefore meeting a real
media convention, by
successfully meeting a
media convention.
Here we have used an over
the shoulder shot, this
present emotion, further
provoking our target
audiences emotions, this
shows that we have used
real media conventions by
considering every aspect in
terms of lyrics, camera
shots and
20. Here we have used the
public, to present our
artist in a vulnerable
place. We then placed the
same shot at night time,
giving our video an
element of time and
thoughts put into one,
presenting our artists
frame of mind, trying to
figure out his future in
the new place. Through
this we have used a sense
of real media, after a
thought-out process on
how to craft our music
video.
21. Through the use of the comparisons to real
music artists website, we have shown our own
website, and we have shown various similarities.
Through this we have shown that we
successfully used real media conventions in our
own music website.
