• अधोवातस्य रोधेन गुल्मोदावत् रुक्कक्कलमााः
वातमूत्रशक्रु त्सङ्गदृष्टट्क्यग्ननवधह्रुर्दगदााः
causes
1. गुल्म - abdominal tumor
2. उदावत् - bloating / abdominal distension
3. रुक् - pain in the abdomen
4. क्कलमा - exhaustion even without excretion
5. वातमूत्रशक्रु त्सङ्ग- obstruction to elimination
of flatus, urine and feces
6. दृग्ष्टि वधा - loss of vision
7. अग्नन वधा - loss of digestive capacity
8. ह्रुर्द गदा - heart diseases
6. पुरीष रोध/ SUPPRESSIONOF FECES
• शकृ ताः वपण्डीकोर्दवेष्टि प्रनतश्याय शशरोरुजाः
ऊर्धव्वायुाः परीकतो हृदयस्योपरोधनम्
मुखेन ववट्क्प्रवृविश्च पूवोक्कताश्च आमयााः स्मृतााः
1. वपण्डीकोर्दवेष्टि- twisting pain of calf muscles
2. प्रनतश्याय - running nose
3. शशरोरुजाः - headache
4. ऊर्धव्वायुाः - upward movement of air / belchings
5. परीकतो - cutting pain in the rectum
6. हृदयस्योपरोधनम् - oppression/ stiffening feeling in
the chest region
7. मुखेन ववट्क्प्रवृविश्च - vomiting of feces
8. पूवोक्कताश्च आमयााः स्मृतााः - diseases mentioned
earlier / under suppression of flatus
7. • TREATMENT
अन्नपानं च ववड् भेदद ववड्
रोधोत्थेषु यक्ष्मसु
Foods and drinks which helps elimination
of feces - laxatives and purgatives are to
be used
8. मूत्ररोध / SUPPRESSION OF URINE
• अङ्गभङ्गाश्मरीबग्स्तमेढ्रवंक्षणवेदनााः
मूत्रस्य रोधात्पूवे च प्रायो रोगााः
1.अङ्गभङ्गा - cutting pain all over the body
2. अश्मरी - formation of urinary stones
3. बग्स्तमेढ्रवंक्षणवेदनााः- severe pain in the
urinary bladder, penis and groin
4. पूवे च प्रायो रोगााः - diseases mentioned
under suppression of flatus and feces
9. • TREATMENT
मूत्रजेषु तु पाने च प्रानभक्कतं शस्यते ृृतम्
जीणा्ग्न्तकं चोिमया मात्रया योजनार्दवयम्
अवपीडकमेतच्च संज्ञितम्
· Drinking of ghee before breakfast is
idealAVAPEEDAKA SNEHAM should be
resorted
· Drinking ghee in the maximum dose at the
end of digestion of food of both the midday
and the night.

तत्रयोज्यं लृु ग्स्ननधं उष्टणं अल्पं च भोजनम ्

SUPPRESSION OF SLEEP
• ननद्राया मोह मूधा्ज्ञक्ष गौरवालस्य जृग्म्भकााः
अङ्गमद्श्च तत्र इष्टिाः स्वप्नाः संवाहनानन च
1. मोह delusion
2. मूधा्ज्ञक्षगौरवाfeeling of heaviness of the head
and eyes
3. आलस्य lassitude
4. जृग्म्भकााः too many yawnings
5. अङ्गमद् squeezing pain all over the body
20. • TREATMENT
तत्र इष्टिाः स्वप्नाः संवाहनानन च
1. इष्टिाः स्वप्नाः - good sleep
2. संवाहनानन - mild massaging
21. कासरोध / SUPPRESSIONOF COUGH
• कासस्य रोधात ् तत्वृर्दचधाः
श्वासारुचच हृदामयााः
शोषो दहर्धमा च ,

1. तत्वृर्दचधाः - increase in cough
2. श्वास - difficulty in breathing
3. अरुचच - loss of taste / appetite
4. हृदामयााः - heart diseases
5. शोषो - emaciation
6. दहर्धमा - hiccup
22. • TREATMENT
काय् अत्र कासहासुतरां ववचधाः
All treatments which relieve cough
should be done.
32. • Those who should not be treated
तृट्क्शूलातं त्यजेत ् क्षीणं ववड्वमं वेगरोचधनम्
· those persons with तृट्क् thirst
· with शूलातं pain in the abdomen
· who are habituated to suppression
of urges
· क्षीणं - with emaciation
· ववड्वमं - with fecal vomiting
-Should be rejected
33. ROOT CAUSE FOR ALL DISEASES
• रोगााः सवे अवप जायन्ते वेगोदीरणधारणाः
ननदद्ष्टिं साधनं तत्र भूनयष्टठं ये तु तान् प्रनत
ततश्चानेकधा प्रायाः पवना यत्प्रकु प्यनत
अन्नपानौषधं तस्य युञ्जीतातो अनुलोमनम ्
All diseases arise from
1. वेगोधीरण - initiation of urges by force
2. वेगधारण - suppression of urges by force
For those common diseases arising from these
acts specific treatments were enumerated so
far.
34. • In others, usually pavana / vata gets
aggravated,
· hence they should be treated with
a. foods
b. drinks
c. Therapies
· which clear the passages of vata and
help its downward movement.
35. धारणीयवेगा / URGESTO BE CONTROLLED
• धारयेिु सदा वेगान् दहतषी प्रत्य चेह च
लोभ ईष्टया्र्दवेषमात्सय्रागादीनां ग्जतेग्न्द्रयाः
He who is desirous of happiness in this life and life
in the other world should
1. control the urges of
· लोभ - greed
· ईष्टया् - envy
· र्दवेष - hatred
· मात्सय् - jealousy
· रागादीनां - love/ desire etc.
2 . ग्जतेग्न्द्रयाः - and gain control over his sense
organs
36. शोधन चचक्रकत्सा प्रशंसा
/ IMPORTANCEOF SHODHANA CIKITSA /
PURIFACTORY THERAPIES
• यतेत् च यथा कालं मलानां शोधनं प्रनत अत्यथ् सग्ञ्चतास्ते दह
क्रु र्दधााः स्युजीववतग्च्छदाः
· All our efforts should be made to clear out the malas (
doshas and waste products )at appropriate times.
· Too much of their accumulation leads to their
aggravation and even death
दोषााः कदाचचत्कु प्यग्न्त ग्जता लङ्ृन पाचनाः
ये तु संशोधनाः शुर्दधा न तेषां पुनरुर्दभवाः
· the doshas which are mitigated by langhana and pacana
therapies might sometimes become aggravated again
· but those which are cleared by samshodhana therapies
will not get aggravated again
37. • यथाक्रमं यथायोगमत ऊर्धवं प्रयोजयेत्
रसायनानन शसर्दधानन वृष्टययोगांश्च कालववत्
· the physician who knows the proper
time of every therapy should administer
them in proper procedure and proper
degree,
· later on administer appropriate
effective rejuvenators and aphrodisiacs
38. भेषजक्षवपत चचक्रकत्सा /

• भेषजक्षवपते पथ्यमाहारबृंहणं क्रमात्
शाशलषग्ष्टिकगोधूममुर्दगमांसृृताददशभाः
ह्र्दर्दयदीपनभेषज्य संयोगाद्रुचचपग्क्कतदाः
साभ्यङ्गोर्दवत्नस्नानननरूहस्नेहनग्स्तशभाः

देशकालात्मवविानं सर्दरुिस्यानुवत्नम ्
अथव्ववदहता शाग्न्ताः प्रनतकू लग्रहाच्नम्
भूतार्धयस्पश् ननदद्ष्टिश्च पृथक् पृथक्
अनुत्पिय समासेन ववचधरेषाः प्रदशश्ताः
ननजागन्तुववकाराणा मुत्पन्नानां च शान्तये
44. • 1. त्यागाः प्रिापराधान्- avoidance of improper
activities of body, mind, and speech by wilful
obeying of rules
2. इग्न्द्रयोपशमाः control of the senses
3. स्मृनताः remembering previous experiences and
acting rightly
4. देशकालात्मवविानं good knowledge of the
· land
· time/ season/age
· self
and their importance to health
5. सर्दरुिस्यानुवत्नम् adherence to rules of good
conduct
45. • 6. अथव्ववदहता शाग्न्ताः conduct of propitiary / peaceful
rites as prescribed in the atharva veda
7. प्रनतकू लग्रहाच्नम्worshipping of celestial powers

8. भूतार्धयस्पश् staying away from bhutas

• शीतोत्र्दभवं दोषचयं वसन्ते ववशोधयन् ग्रीष्टमजं अभ्रकाले
ृनात्यये वावष्कमाशु सम्यक् प्राप्नोनत रोगान् ततुजान्न जातु
1. Accumulation of doshas arising from cold season should
be expelled during vasanta / spring
2. That arising from summer / grishma should be expelled
during abhrakala / varsha / rainy season
3. That arising from varsha be expelled during ghanatyaya /
sarat / autumn

47. अरोगहेतवाः / PERSONSWHOWILL BECOME

• ननत्यं दहताहारववहारसेवी समीक्ष्यकारी ववषयेष्टवसक्कताः
दाता समाः सत्यपराः क्षमावानाप्तोपसेवी च भवत्यरोगाः

1. दहताहारववहारसेवी who indulges daily in healthy
foods and activities
2. समीक्ष्यकारी who discriminates good and bad of
everything and act wisely
48. • 3. ववषयेष्टवसक्कताः who is not attached too much
to the object of senses
4. Who develops -
· दाता the habit of charity
· समाः of considering all as equal
· सत्यपराः of truthfullness
· क्षमावान ् of pardoning
· आप्तोपसेवी keeping company of
good persons only
- becomes free from all diseases
