In the CBD (Central Business District) there is always a big group of people and very tall buildings. The reason for that big amount of people is because in the CBD there are many different types of shops that attract people and also the CBD is easy for everyone to get too. The buildings in the CBD have to be tall because the land cost a lot of money so they build up instead of building wide.
The CBD has more then just pedestrians and tall buildings. It also has lots of transport for example the Hauptbanhof. The CBD has also retail outlets they are placed in the CBD because of the number of people. The more people the more money the store makes.
The Inner City isn’t necessarily a bad place to live. Mostly there are only apartment buildings and not houses, In some areas In the inner city it can be dirty, graffiti or old worn out advertisements. The roads also can be very narrow, like an alley way that has dumpsters etc.
The inner city has more then dirty areas and very tall buildings, it also has the smaller shops and fewer shops. Above the little shops it’s normal to have apartments and also apartment buildings around it.
In the Inner Suburbs there are mostly just houses and some green area but the individual house don’t have yards because of the lack of space. There is mostly just public areas, instead of private areas. The house are pretty close together in the inner suburbs because of space issues. There is a wide open road and it’s far enough away from the city that the residents don’t get a lot of noise from cars driving past constantly.
In the outer suburbs people have bigger houses and also more land. For example front yards and backyards and some people may have farm land. There is more green areas and less green public areas. The outer suburbs are much newer, a bit more modern and mostly only residential but small shops could rarely be found there.
The Industrial areas are always outside of city because they take up a lot of room and are very noisy. This picture shows smoke stacks that are far away but still noticeable, There is the main factory and a big pile of trash. Farther down the street from this location there was a river and all along the river all that was there was cranes just hanging there over the river, so this part of Stuttgart is mostly just industrial.
Industrial areas don’t also mean factories, power plants and smoke stacks it can also be things that take up a lot of room, are noisy and use a lot of electricity or use an engine the release different types of fumes into the air. For example cranes are noisy, use an engine and take up a lot of space. Crates don’t have an engine but the only way to move them is by using something that does such as a crane. Crates also take up a large amount of space.
On the Urban Rural Fringe there mostly is green areas and farms. In this picture there are sheep and farm land, that also include housing. The Urban Rural Fringe is always located outside of city, away from most civilization and a little close to the industrial parts than people who live in the inner or outer suburbs.
This diagram shows the CBD, industry, housing etc. but in a different form. This is layout of where these places actually stand, In some places this could be wrong. The CBD is in the center, surrounded mostly by the working class housing of the inner city. There also is a little bit of industry towards the middle but gets bigger as it goes outside of the area. Middle class housing or inner suburbs in surrounding most the working class. The high class housing is in between the middle class and reaches outside of the city like the industry but it far from it.
This pyramid shows mostly what was in the last slide but in a different form. Stuttgart is a city and inside the city are large towns for example Degerloch. A smaller town would be Plieningen, then a village would be Birkach. In Germany there aren’t very many Hamlets, Birkach could be a Hamlet but a Hamlet is smaller. An Isolated Dwelling isn’t very popular here, farming areas could count but mostly it’s an United sSates thing where people like to have a house isolated from other houses, just kind of in the middle of no where.
