From asking the audience whether they enjoyed the trailer, I am able to see if it
appealed to them. Then when it comes to making my final draft I am able to see
what I can improve to ensure that they enjoy it. From this all the people who
completed my questionnaire enjoyed my draft trailer which is positive because I
am able to see what I did well.

I wanted to know why they enjoyed the trailer and if they didn’t enjoy it why. As all the
people said that they did enjoy the trailer, looking at the reasons why means I will
keep them elements when it comes to making my final draft. For example, someone
enjoyed the voiceover as it created tension for the trailer, and also enjoyed that when
they saw the trailer they understood what the film was about which is what I aimed
for.

I then wanted to see if the four technical areas were effective within my draft
trailer. From asking about the sound, one person thought that the music helped
set the scene for the trailer but then someone else thought that the happy, upbeat
music was too happy for a horror trailer. Having this type of feedback is important
because I am able to change this element of the trailer to ensure that I appeal to
the target audience.

I then asked the audience about the camerawork and if they thought it was
effective. Some people thought the camerawork was effective because there were
no wobbles and it highlighted what was needed with the panning and zooming
effects. Whereas, some people thought there were a few jitters throughout the
trailer, this means that I am able to be more careful when moving the camera for my
final trailer.

I wanted to ask the audience whether the acting within the trailer was effective so
that I would know whether I needed to reshoot any of the footage or just add more.
From the audience feedback, the audience think that the acting was alright but at
times it feels as if the actor is aware of the camera being there. This can be
improved in my final trailer by reshooting certain elements of the trailer.

I wanted to ask the audience whether the costume was effective as a part of the
mise-en-scene, from the feedback I received they all agreed that the costumes
are natural which is conventional for a horror movie. They also think that it showed
she is normal everyday girl by the clothes she is wearing.

For the last question, I wanted to know what the audience would improve if they
could. Some examples were to make it a bit longer, this will be improved as I still
have more clips to add. Other examples are to change the voiceover, change
some of the music and also when the girl receives the voicemail change the
expression on her face.

I also posted the link to my trailer and questionnaire onto Facebook, to
see if I could get some more feedback. As this person couldn’t work the
questionnaire, they wrote some detailed feedback in a Facebook
message. From this I am able to see what she would improve in my
trailer; for example, when the girl gets the voicemail wait a little bit longer
before she reacts to the message as people receive voice messages all
the time. She thought that the acting was good as it portrayed a normal
teenage girl. From this I can see what I need to improve and what I have
done well.
