• Better Experience and Better Product:
1. UX Improvements: home screen, Siri visual effect, Map, Notif, Global Search,
sidebar/toolbar, watch face compilation/sharing （简化呈现，多用/分用）
2. X-Device: easy of use, privacy, better together – tap to connect, secure-camera/TV,
iphone/TV, iphone/watch, iphone/airpod （易用安全）
3. Social Focus: easier to attend what you care and more responsive, better expressiveness -
pin conversation, thread highlight, inline reply, selective notif, visual cue on header, and
more memoji（关注和表达）
4. Uniqueness: above and beyond – Pencil/Scribble elevate handwrite input, Airpod deliver
accel/gyro assisted surround sound, Carkey promise UWB future（极致体验）
• Better Life: exercise better, sleep better, and live safer – new workout type, sleep
routine, covid-19 hand-wash assistance, rebrand to Fitness (营造生活体验）

• Privacy Emphasis: clear principles built in from the start of Apple process – Apple
sign-in, location blur, visual cue of use indicator, privacy report on each app (信任第一）
(distinguisher to Android, Google/Facebook ad agents not happy about it and vocal
against it already)
• Strengthen Dev-Ecosystem: strive for best Apple experience –
1. easier to share and consume app experience with minimum overhead: App Clip
（易用易分享）
2. perf-per-watt, common architecture, unified developer experience：
Catalyst/universal-app, Rosetta2/transition, native iOS/iPad app
• 特性趋同明显，很多借鉴安卓并改进增强，极力传达苹果还在创新
• 使用体验/隐私安全/开发生态是主要关注领域
• 投资重点是统一开发生态：工具支持2019年启动，架构和应用市场在2021年计划完成

7. Compact Incall Design
iOS 14 uses a new compact
incall interface when the
device is not locked.
This will make the user
undisturbed from their current
activities.
This interaction is for all
scenarios when the screen is
not locked but not only for
some Apps.

iOS 14 introduce its
Privacy protection in a
separate speech (as

10. Apps Experience
Improvement
• Message – Support “Pin to Top”, “Mentioned”, seems like WeChat outside China.
• Map – Localized in different places. EV charging supported in the US, and avoiding
restriction suggestions in some cities such as Paris or Beijing.
• CarPlay & CarKey with BMW – Follow BMW solution with wireless Charging and
One-button Engine. You can share the digital keys within you family.

利用UWB的定向和测距能力来提高用户体验

11. App Clips (Not ready for Beta yet)

The entrances can be NFC tag, QR
codes, Safari, Message and Maps.
Apple Pay and Apple Account can
be linked to App Clips, and
developers can directly use them
for their clips.
App Library will show app clips in
the top. This is also a attraction for
developers to join.

12. First Week User Experience Issues with iOS 14
• More Stable than iOS 13 first beta version, but there are obvious stuck when
unlocking the device after the device is locked for a period. Maybe this is affected
by lots of widgets on Home screen.
• When the screen is full of apps and widgets, it is hard to group an app from the
other screen. It will mess up the screen if moving an app in this way.
• Back touch is not optimized to the best situation. It is too sensitive to be active. It
is easy to get some screenshots if you pick it up and put it on a table.
• The number of widgets is small, and the widget currently will not refresh in real
time.
• The power consumed faster, but acceptable for Beta version.

14. iPadOS 14

• Over 1 million apps designed
just for iPad
• SideBar
• Productive design for Photos,
Notes and Files.
• Drag & Drop
• Natural behavior for large screen
• Compact Design
• Same design in iOS 14 but better
experience with large screen.

• The entrance to any content

15. Scribble
• Combine the advantages of handwriting and printing.
• OCR technology application, but need more
verifications on the actual usecases.
• This feature will be the killer feature of iPad with
future evolutions.

16. AirPods Updates
• AirPods becomes an important
intermediary across devices. The audio
will stream automatically between

• Over 20,000 apps on app store for watchOS. Watch Face opens more for developers to design and share
• Bike route is supported on watchOS 7 like iOS 14.
• One more workout added: Dance.
• App renamed: Fitness.

19. Sleep Scenario
• The connection between watchOS and iOS.
• The shortcut in iPhone will help you to setup a bedtime routine.
• The watch will record your sleep time and wake up yourself with suitable alarm.
• The watch will do a analysis of your sleep by micro-movement sensing.

• New icons design, combined with iOS design (flat) and classic mac design (Skeuomorphism).
• New added control center which is similar to the control center of iOS
• Widgets design is the same as iOS 14
• Some apps perform the new features on iOS 14: Message and Map.

27. Safari – the Biggest Update Ever
Fast Loading Personal Background Privacy Protection Extensions
Safari also support page translation from Big Sur. It is trying to catch up with Chrome in all aspects.

28. Will macOS be the Next iPadOS?
Both notification bar and control
center are designed suitable for touch
Mac Catalyst makes developer easily
develop app for both iPad and Mac.

29. iOS Becomes the Center of Apple OSs
• From WWDC 2020, it seems that iOS has been the center of all of five OSs.
• Automatic audio switch: iOS+iPadOS+macOS+AirPods
• Sleep Scenario: iOS+watchOS
• Home Scenario: iOS+HomeKit+tvOS
• Most of the new features or designs will be reflected on iOS 14 first: compact
design, wind down mode, picture in picture, message and map improvements.

2. 现在随着架构的统一（ARM），开发体验的统一变得更加容易（iOS原生应用在MacOS上可以直接
运行），据报道，开发体验的统一计划在2021年完成
3. 触屏设计在macOS应用的采用变得容易，预测有触摸屏支持的新macOS品类呼之欲出
4. 完成架构迁移以后，不排除后续如果微内核/组建式技术成熟，操作系统统一的议题被重新提出来
