selected as implementation partner in August 2021.

• DIMECC has facilitated Intelligent Industry
(II) ecosystem since 2017. II is an
innovative ecosystem focusing on value
co-creation and connecting leading
Finnish equipment manufacturers and
digital solutions providers to drive and
realize the immense opportunities in the
industrial data economy and digital
transformation.
• Intelligent industry ecosystems thematical
focus areas are data and advance
analytics, autonomous systems, human
factor and value co-creation in
ecosystems.
• Ecosystem’s operations have been kept
as business driven and network has been
open to all new partner companies.
• By using II as foundation for FAMN we
can speed up FAMN ramp up significantly

• FAMN promotes the availability of skilled resources and raises the quality of
skills, as well as enhances the attractiveness and diversity of the industry.
• Together with training and research institutes, FAMN will create regional
business cooperation structures with agreed division of labor.
• The aim is to increase training and research activities that support the
sustainable growth and renewal of companies' businesses
• World-class competence centers and quality infrastructures inspire Finns
and attract foreigners.
2. Competence Development
• FAMN network has technological know-
how, on the basis of which it supports the

• Promoting cooperation between
companies in the network: FAMN helps
companies to accelerate product
development, launch innovation activities
and exploit the potential of digitalisation.

• FAMN acquires the latest technology and
research data for the benefit of companies
and companies and research
organizations as a centers of excellence.
• Concentrations of expertise are company-
led and can also consist of companies

5. RDI infrastructures
• FAMN maps the identified development needs and
competitiveness needs of companies, education and
research institutes and existing manufacturing

6. • Facilitation managed by DIMECC.
• Two full time Senior ecosystem leads: Antti Karjaluoto &
Kari Muranen will drive the work and lead the network.
• FAMN Management Board is the most representative
governing body of the FAMN, making or approving the
most fundamental decisions. Management Board consists
of selected company representatives and a representative
of TIF.
• FAMN will build an innovation agenda, roadmap and
implementation plan together with its members.

competences quality levels and boosts the manufacturing industry

• FAMN will provide innovation coaching services

which the network supports the establishment of co-
innovation projects together with research institutes.

9. • Enchancing the co-operation between member
companies: FAMN helps companies to accelerate their
RD&I, launch innovation activities and benefit from
digitalisation opportunities
• Boosting cooperation between partner companies and
startup companies.
• Closely following European development (e.g. Gaia-X)
and matchmaking Finnish companies to EU-projects
• Arranging seminars, academies and roadshows –
information sharing, networking and co-operation

10. • FAMN will establish latest technology and research
infrastructure to be used in company networks or in
shared competence centers between companies and
research institutes.
o FAMN makes proposals for private and/or co-funded
research infrastructures / new technologies, their location
and specializations, and identifies the investment capacity
of companies.
→ Participating companies and public research units apply
separate funding.

Sustainable manufacturing involves developing sustainable products with total life-cycle
considerations and implementing sustainable manufacturing processes and systems that
minimize negative environmental impacts, minimally consume materials, energy, and other
resources.
VALUE CO-CREATION IN ECOSYSTEMS
In the era of intelligent industry value networks are built around customer needs and
competitiveness is based on the power of ecosystems and ability to harvest the resources of
ecosystems to deliver customized solutions. Such value co-creation requires novel ways to

FAMN is well positioned to drive and build new business
for the Finnish manufacturing industry data economy.
FAMN has a great opportunity to operate as a ecosystem
and build solutions together with great export potential.
Co-creation in the digitalisation will boost whole industry
sector, especially SME sector, which will provide increase
of existing business and/or open up totally new business
opportunities.
As part of our infra-initiative and data acceleration
program, FAMN aims to build an industrial data space
and data market place, which will boost the development
of joint data sharing, AI/ML, automation and robotics
solutions to be build on the top of it.
→ The business arrowhead will be completed
during the autumn of 2021 together with partner
companies.

& PARTNERSHIP
• FAMN will be established with founding members during fall 2021.
o FAMN is open network and willing to accept new partners,
who share the FAMN ideology and accept partner obligations
• Funding model is split between Public and Partner company
funding.
o Public funding applied from Business Finland’s ecosystem
orchestration funding instrument
• Private partner funding will be collected as annual fees, depending
of the company size and total number of Partner companies:
